I’ve spent a day or three, arranging my binders to the way I like & I have so much ‘bulk’ doubles, I don’t know what to do with them ! .. Their mostly basic, stage one or stage two cards *non holo or non reverse holo* to basically put in a shoe box or maybe, start a poke-dex binder of all of the Pokemon or, I could donate them to a childrens hospital or hand them into a thrift / charity shop, to continue someone else’s collection ! .. What does everyone else do with their ‘bulk’ cards ?
My neighbor’s grandkid likes pokemon so I’ll typically give the cards to her otherwise it just goes to recycling can’t lie
I am probably in a very small minority here, but I always penny sleeve every card when I open packs.
- Any kind of foiling: Penny sleeve + card saver 1
- Non-holo bulk: Just penny sleeve
Almost everything (except the hits that I grade) get stashed in a cardboard box and I forget about them.
Why? Because packs are expensive and negative EV. I rarely open packs anymore, but when I do I want to recover as much of that cost as I can, even if it takes years for the bulk to do anything.
The idea/hope is that one of two things will happen:
- The cleanest ones will be PSA 10 contenders if/when they become worth grading
- Selling complete common/uncommon/rare sets in “pack fresh condition” gets more profitable as the set ages
So far both have happened for my older bulk. It remains to be seen if today’s bulk will ever be like that… But preserving them as best I can at least exposes me to that potential.
i’ve given some to my nephew although he doesn’t seem super interested lol, but i want to start using them in some collage projects!
I wish more people handled bulk cards as carefully as you do.
For example, I don’t collect “chase cards” or “full arts.” I ONLY collect the regular cards, holos and non-holos, depicting Gen 1 and Gen 2 Pokemons. So most of my binder collection is what people would call “bulk.”
But when I buy cards online listed as “NM,” they often show up in awful condition, even when they’re from a brand-new set that’s still in print. I honestly think it’s because people open packs looking for the chase hits, and if they don’t pull one, they treat the rest like throw-ins and just toss them around. It’s kind of sad.
I just bought a box that has rows in it, and I sorted all of the cards by the set they come from with little dividers. It keeps them neat, and if you want to find a specific card you just have to find the set instead of searching the whole box.
Fellow sleever(?) here
I also penny sleeve most of my countless bulk and arrange them by sets in a 4row boxes!!
Ill probably leave out the HP damage cards, but all LP and above are in sleeves or arranged by sets in empty etb boxes!
You’re not alone, my friend. I sleeve every card I open too, for two reasons: because I want to preserve everything long term, and more importantly, to give dignity to the bulk. As a collector, I feel it deserves the respect it merits and shouldn’t be treated as trash.
I only bothered with this 30-hour slog because I needed a safe way to ship them, before I used to stack them horizontally and unsleeved in various boxes. Would I ever do it for my own sake? Probably not, but it certainly looks much better.
Your bulk looks like my prized binder collection.
I’ve got so much bulk in big boxes ready to mail to somewhere, but everyone stopped even taking bulk lol. I also have no idea what to do.
If I like the art on them will put in my binder dedicated to bulk, if not I’ll store in an ETB and send to LCS
I donated mine to @JimTrainer and his kid ![]()
And we had the time of our life going through it. And we’re only half way done!
Deck build!!
I also sleeve and top load anything cool or (by default) Sun&Moon-down, they fit nicely in 1600ct 2 rows. I’m not shy to buy used top loaders for pennies on the dollar, of course I switch them out for new if I’m letting something go.
I have some 4 rows going for SwSh-up.
I catalog it all on an app I like and I do enjoy throwing in freebies if someone makes a purchase off me. If it’s “bulk-y” and in a binder, it’s on the appropriate spreadsheet.
I just save up all the bulk Pokemon and baseball cards from the year in these two row plastic boxes and put a handful in a Team Bag to hand out bags during Halloween. I’ll put a couple Base, Jungle or Fossil bulk cards in one bag to keep aside if I can tell one of the kids actually likes Pokemon cards to give. They all seem to have fun getting the bags and some candy.
