What are some fun Pokemon things to do while in Japan?

Perhaps someone who visited Japan before can comment on some cool/fun Pokemon things to do while in Japan. I’ve read through some previous threads about how the card shops can be pretty fun, but not to spend the whole time in these shops.
Did you see any cool Pokemon stuff when you were in Japan? Tell me more.

I visited a couple of Pokemon Centers so far (Skytree Tokyo, Shibuya PC w/ the Big Mewtwo at Entrance) and they were pretty cool, very packed, bought a lot of booster boxes, which I opened lol.

Are there any cafes with nice Pokemon Artwork, graffiti Pokemons. Where is the Pokemon Museum / Pokemon Temple/Shrines? Looking to pay homage to Pokemon themed stuff while in Japan, open to suggestions. For as big as Pokemon has blown up over the last decade, I’m surprised there isn’t more tourist attractions with Pokemon theme. Ie. Psyduck/Gyarados Water Taxis near Tokyo. I heard about a Slowpoke Ferry but uhh what else is there. I heard the Poke Cafes need to book months in advance, so that’s a no go. Thanks in advance guys.

Maybe you could visit some of the real life locations which inspired the towns of the original games? It’s probably not that exciting and some places are difficult to get to, so maybe it’s not the best option.

Machida looks nice. They have a Snoopy Museum (American cartoonist made snoopy) over there. I’d be very interested in finding a Pokemon Museum, surprised it’s not in Machida. Rather then use my imagination, I’d love to visit some Pokemon centric artwork/history etc made for the tourists.

The Nintendo museum in Kyoto is something I personally would love to visit.
Unfortunately, tickets are only available via lottery and sell out immediately.
Spots do open if people cancel, so if you are in Kyoto, check the night before to see if any tickets are available.

(Side note: I’m extremely salty for signing up for the lottery on January 1st for a spot on April 16th and not getting in)

Also, I’d recommend going to 84tour
84 Hashi Cafe. Lots of Nintendo history there. The entry price is a little high but I would recommend it to anyone at least once.

Thanks for the attempt @mthursty . I’m sure there’s lots of wonderful Nintendo / One Piece / Sailormoon & and other anime related museums/stores, but I’m actually just interested in Pokemon stuff. Preferably indoors where it is warm for winter.

How in the Japan is there no Pokemon Museum out here. There’s cards literally selling for hundreds of thousands of dollars, and the PokeCenters in Japan are beyond packed. There must be more Poke Themed stores/services for the hundreds of millions of Pokemon fans that exist.

I would be interested in checking out the Nintendo Museum if there was no lottery though. I bet a Pokemon museum would have a larger backlog of interested attendee/visitors as well. What the heck are these Japanese people doing all day. They could be teaching us about the History of Ash Ketchum or Professor Oak, or history about the Pokemon games, tv shows, movies, etc.

Update: okay apparently there is a fossil pokemon museum exhibit at the Hofu Science Museum. Has anyone been? is it worth the 6-7 hour subway ride from Tokyo?

How about this exhibition of Pokemon and Japanese craft: POKÉMON X KOGEI—Playful Encounters of Pokémon and Japanese Craft—
The exhibition has just finished its tour in Tokyo, but it is scheduled to be held next in places such as Nagoya, Aomori, and Nagasaki.

Do you know where to find info on future locations? The venue info doesn’t point to the next location yet

They are written on the site but it’s too subtle to find it…

Nagoya: 4/26-6/15

Aomori: 6/28-8/31

Nagasaki: 9/12-12/7

Thank you!
(If this Nagoya expo was a week earlier I’d be able to go :sob::sob:)

Wow that looks like an Exhibit I would attend, unfortunately wont be here at of April.

I think there are proxy services where people book the pokemon cafe for you, but you would have to research into that.

A fun activity is looking for the manhole covers in the area you are staying:

this website shows them!

I think Mimaru hotels also offer a themed hotel as an official collab:

lol ty starboy, that would be a Pokemon lover’s dream. Looks quite nice for family with kids. However, as one adult, $394 a night might be a bit, still very nice.
