I started collecting them in December last year so not too long actually. I had a system of a whole bunch of different sites and apps that I would check 2-3 times a day. I probably only needed to check once a day but the thrill of the hunt got to me
I’m technically not completely done yet,my psa 9 English unlimited neo Magikarp has an old cert number, I don’t mind that so much but the label is old and looks out of place so I’m looking to upgrade. Hoping to find a good deal on one and then sell mine a bit later if the prices go up again. So still fishing, but only looking for 1 - and it’s one I already have so not as intense. I was originally going to get it re-encapsulated by psa but international shipping is something I’ve never done and then the tariffs situation happened

TLDR; Neo Japanese, fan club, English neo double holos, Japanese 25th, English neo, English 25th lol
My favourite is definitely the original Japanese Neo. I love the cosmos Holo that fills the whole artbox, and the way that the whole card face shines with rainbow dots. It’s very pretty and shiny, especially in person.
The Fan club is interesting how different lighting highlights different parts of the Magikarp making it really stand out. I didn’t like it at first but that was until I saw photos of it in good light and it looked beautiful, now it’s my #2
English neo double holos look really good when the lighting is right, sometimes it looks like the Magikarp is in very deep water or space. Then it’s also got the pretty cosmos Holo all across the artbox like the Japanese version
Japanese 25th anniversary has a pretty unique look, the border looks great in light and it also has a wave holo which is pretty unique
English neo is good, sparkles look good in the right light but otherwise is pretty standard
I don’t like English 25th very much, it’s still a shining Magikarp and I still like the artwork but other than that it’s pretty lackluster. It has the same wave and sparkly-blue holo as the Japanese but for some reason it’s really faint and hard to make out compared to the Japanese. Maybe I just got a bad card? Even if it’s meant to be the same as the Japanese, the border really makes the Japanese one stand out
