Well...it finally happened...

I finally hit $10,000 spent on Pokemon cards. That comes out to about $12 a day. I remember the first time I spent nearly $200 on a single card: an unlimited Shining Charizard. I thought I found the deal of the century! I must have sat on the toilet for an hour contemplating the ramifications of buying a single for $175. And this past weekend I dropped $600 on some themes without more than five minutes of thought. My oh my, how far we’ve come.
Anyway, a lot of you are wearing celebration hats. Now you’ve got something to celebrate.
Cheers fellas!

Good for you! I roughly calculate I have spent 8,000 over the past 10 years but estimate my collection to be worth about that amount as it sits. How long did it take for you to spend 10,000? I have always been low income so it’s surprising I have even managed to spend so much. But I don’t smoke or drink or pay to get my hair done or take family vacations of any kind…haha so that kind of money is all into Pokémon in my household.

Congrats! Don’t go poor!

I started around September/October and I’ve spent well over $3,000 thus far — and I like it.

That’s about where I’m at as well…maybe I should pump the brakes on the cardboard purchases lol

My first card cost me 0.2 usd, it was in a local cardshop, and I felt like shit. So guilty I did the longest walk of shame and instant regret of my life. And some months ago I paid 3k to a stranger without thinking it twice for a single card. Crazy times we live in.

@trainerdlyellow welcome to the 5 figure club (if youd even want to call it that haha)! I remember months and months ago while browsing cards and re establishing myself into everything I said to myself “wow, $500 for the PSA graded version of that card!? im only buying raw”! Then a few purchases here and there where the condition was listed as “near mint” and id get a copy beat to oblivion, or some peoples near mint was more lightly played, etc etc and now I have boxes of PSA cards where lots of them broke that cost barrier haha.

But was it all worth it, and is it still worth it today? Absolutely, because to me these items exceed any dollar amount, because they hold memories ill always be able to cherish.

Cant wait to hear how your future card collecting endeavors all come together when that time comes as well!

When I started collecting I had a strict $250 a month limit (for a year)…I busted through that limit when I spent $4,000.00 on a PSA 9 1st edition base set charizard. Since then it has been a blur…don’t tell my wife .
