Welcome to Elite Fourum Thread

That’s Awesome. I have a buddy working on his PhD in geology there at the moment. Did you use your degree in your career trajectory?

Haha I didn’t know you had a background in biochem Gary, I would have never guessed. I did my undergrad degree in a combination of molecular biology and computer science. Currently doing bioinformatics research at a genetics lab studying cystic fibrosis

Nice to see we got a little e4 bio club forming

@pfm, Smart man, bioinformatics is where all the jobs are going to be in the future. I’m doing my Honours project next year researching early-onset Alzheimer’s disease using zebrafish

I’m not a new member but since you asked;)…

My parents wanted me to be a scientist so I followed that path but minored in my true love Journalism. I co-edited and wrote for the school newspaper, The Daily Bruin.
I worked with the great Dr. Sydney Roberts for a short time at UCLA. The words “Biological Chemistry” never crossed his lips. Our field and department was Physiological Chemistry…period. If anybody used the term Bio Chem they would be relegated to caring for the Sprague Dawley albinos lol. I ended up leaving and went into retail. Me and a partner opened a video/television store on Sunset Blvd. This was when video tape recorders first came out and the battle between VHS and Beta began.
Later I got into Resort/Casino management.

Hi!
glad i spotted this thread to get started, should be stickied!

I’m Al, i’m from Australia and i collect Bulbasaur cards! bulbasaur is my boy, i will die very happy if i have just one copy of every card, but if i can have a large collection of many copies of each card i can die with honour.

at the moment i have almost all Bulbasaur arts except for 3 i thinkor 4, i made a video about it!

i also like getting other cards that HAVE bulbasaur in it. like i have the Ditto card that it takes the form of bulbasaur and other cards like bandai cardass, and tazo “3d” cards.

i actually just today recieved a pokemon playing card that has bulbasaur on it and this little mini pokedex card of some kind which i’m actually looking for information on right now and was directed here from reddit!!

i’ll see if i get a response from this and have a good look around before i make a thread about it, i literally just signed up.

The thread is stickied (just at the bottom of the -currently- 8 sticky posts in the general thread).

Welcome to the forum, though!

Based on your collection video I assumed you’re primarily collecting English and Japanese Bulbasaurs? You do have a German Base Bulbasaur, but I guess you don’t specifically collect foreign cards?
I’m known on this forum as someone who makes lists for single-Pokémon collections of all available TCG cards. I did make a Bulbasaur list once, but unfortunately it was one of my very first lists, so it contains very odd formatting, errors and is incomplete in comparison to my more recent lists… :unamused: If you want I can update it in the near future perhaps.

I’ve looked at the first two pages of your video, and here are the English and Japanese ones you’re currently seem to be missing for those sets:

  • English Base Set (Thick) 1st edition
  • English Base Set Grey 1st edition
  • English Base Set unlimited edition ©1999-2000
  • English Base Set 2
  • Japanese Bulbasaur Intro Pack #1
  • Japanese Bulbasaur Intro Pack #18

You’re probably also missing the different EX codes for some of the English and Japanese EX era sets (for some English sets there are three different codes for Common non-Holos and two codes for Uncommon non-Holos; for Japanese cards from the sets there are four different codes, 4x 1st edition and 4x unlimited edition, for the Commons, and not sure how many for the Japanese Uncommons.

Anyway, once again welcome to the forum, and good luck with your collection goals! There are a few other Bulbasaur collectors on the forum (@genosha @hyruleguardian ), so you’ll fit right in.

Greetz,

Thanks @quuador . Me and @dooseyboy already had contact unknowingly a few weeks ago via eBay and already made connections earlier today due to the other thread on 2019 goals. Good to see some friendly competition

lets start an investment folio and start saving for them

thanks for the response @quuador, really appreciate it.
longterm goal is A copy of every card ever made with Bulbasaur on it, all languages etc.
short term is at least one of every version of art, this is very obtainable besides the pokemon snap card obviously haha :sob:
but you know, if it was ever possible for me to have 15 grand lying around, i would absolutely want to buy that card.

its great to be in contact with you because i’ve been going off the list on bulbapedia which only covers english and japanese cards to cover that first goal of art collection and i’ve been looking for information on cards in languages other than english and japanese so if you have any information on that i’d love to be in contact

After well over three years of casual lurking, I’m very happy to break in the new year by finally making an account!
I’ve bought, traded and spoken with quite a few of the members here on Reddit, Facebook, eBay and Instagram since I first began collecting so its been a long awaited aim of mine to finally have an account here to engage with the community even more!
Over the years the direction of my collection has changed, from childhood cards, to sealed, to PSA, to Japanese and finally now exploring BGS! I look forward to continuing that on here

I’m Aldo.
I live in San Antonio, TX.
My kids (5,7 & 10) and I just started playing the local TCG game last year. Mostly at home but sometimes in the League.
I personally like Charizard but kids like Ultra Beasts, Banette & Dark Pokemon, Pokemon Trainers and of course Pikachu.
New to Pokemon collecting and I am a very impulsive buyer. Hope to learn here so I can make wiser choices.
Want to start with collecting the 99 base set 1st edition and Gold Star cards.
I have always loved to collect sports cards as a kid but ended up selling or giving them away as I grew older. So starting from scratch now.
Glad to be part of the community and hope to learn alot from everyone here.

Welcome to the club! You most certainly will get your fill of knowledge at any time that you are curious of something. It’s an excellent way to bond with the young ones as well. But remember, the kids have to eat first. That $5,000.00 Charizard card will have to come after their dinner. I can relate, lol. Glad to have you on board, and have fun!

@milcharis ,Thank you. Yeah the kids are eating first. If I had the same amount of money to feed my family of 6 to pay for pokemon cards/collectibles that would be awesome. But without the kiddos probably would not be as into it. Probably sitting around watching GOT or something boring like that.

Hi All,

Great to find this forum! I found it through smpratte’s awesome youtube channel!

My name is Javier I live in california (bay area) I have been a Pokemon player and collector for more than 20 years, started with Pokemon yellow and been playing since. My collection is mostly the games and consoles (pokemon gameboys or N64 etc) and rare items from Japan that I have gotten through time. On the cards side, I used to collect them but then stopped sold my cards (which I regret today but I was young!) and just recently (past year) I retook the hobby.

I am truly obsessed with Pokemon to the point that my kid’s 5th word was pikachu :unamused:!

I really want to dive deeper into the collectible card space and have more knowledge than the one I have today.

In terms of what I am collecting right now… I decided to go a different route and not get an official full set, instead I am very interested mostly in Pokemon Shiny cards and Promos… my ambition is to just have a full Shiny set from all shiny pokemon from neo till the recent GX shiny Japan set, so having all shiny pokemon release till today (Japan and US) is what I aiming for first as a starting point, then move to promo cards such as tropical tidal/wind sets or just weird cards as the scream cards (Which i recently bought a full set  )

In the end I am looking to learn as much as possible of the card side as well to become more wise and make better decisions and also give back to the community with some of the knowledge I have from all these years of playing and enjoying pokemon in general

Looking forward to meet all of you and share interesting discussions!!!
