WARNING : Dragon Shield Perfect Fit Sealable too tight

I got a bunch of cards for my binder today the same day that these sleeves arrived. I had seen a review video on YouTube with an MTG card and it looked great.

Unfortunately these sleeves are too tight to comfortably use with Pokémon. They are sized for 63x88mm while KMC Perfect Fit are sized for 64x89mm. Due to the tightness it’s easy to damage a card, and also very difficult to remove the sleeves.

Tragically I didn’t bother testing the sleeves with a common card. Please don’t make the same mistake I did :slightly_frowning_face:

Oof. I’ve had the same experience funnily enough (didn’t damage a card luckily, but I quickly realized they were slightly too tight). Either way, the sealable feature is a pain in the ass. Takes a million years to sleeve/unsleeve cards with them and it adds a tiny bit of thickness.

Perfect fit are so unnecessary and dangerous for pokemon cards which see little to no play.

Exactly this. I get frustrated when I get eBay seller shipping $25+ cards in these.

I actually like perfect fits in general since I take cards out of my binder a lot to look at the texture or holo lmao. But these ones are awful for Pokémon.

oooo that hurts. So sorry about that

I use these for my collection. Pre-stretch with a common and they fit perfect.

Have you tried more than one? I’ve used about 2000+ of these for master sets, the main issue seems to be that they’re not super consistently sized. Sometimes you get a lose one, sometimes you get one that’s way too tight. Stretching with a common like @gildri mentioned works well. I really like them and have yet to have them damage a card.

Dang that’s a bummer. Anyone saying you have to stretch a sleeve for it to work is like saying they bought a shirt a size too small but it will fit if they pull on it enough.

Yea, having to stretch out every sleeve before using seems like a bit much. Maybe they just arent good for pokemon cards :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for the heads up. Been using KMC Perfect Fit for years without any issues. Just curious - why did you try the switch? Better price?

Nope, just thought it might be neat to try out, I like experimenting now and then with different sleeves.

I had also been planning to use these on my victory cups to keep them dust free within the trophy case. Figured that would be an improvement over regular perfect fit since double sleeving is too thick for the cases. So as bad as this was it could’ve been far worse.

I know that pre stretching them is annoying and not something a lot of people would want to do. If a card makes it into a binder for a master set, I’m never taking it out. I originally tried double sleeving, but that obscures the card and makes the binder really thick. I like these because it’s one layer of plastic instead of two, while also sealing off the card. I don’t mind the extra effort because I’m just doing it once per card per set.

That’s rough, sorry fam :sob:

Well the shining beacon of light in the darkness here is that you weren’t going to get the card graded; it was just gonna camp out in a binder. So no real harm done, you’ll hardly notice! It isn’t until you get something slabbed and see an ugly not-10 staring at you that this turns into a problem.

Oof that’s so annoying :slightly_frowning_face:

Something I started to do lately when I want to use any sleeve that’s not a penny sleeve or when double sleeving is to chop off the top corners of the sleeve, makes it much easier to put in and take out without harming the card corners…

Exactly what I do for my master sets as well. Single sleeve, 100% protection(almost water proof), and can take them out of the binder to handle.

this is really unfortunate, thank you for sharing this

Sorry to hear this happened to you, and thank you for the warning!

I’ve unfortunately had bad experiences myself with perfect fits as well, even those “recommended” for Pokemon Cards. As a result I’ve simply switched to penny sleeves in Zipfolio binders. They fit pretty well, the cards are protected, and I find the result visually pleasing

Breaking open an energy pack from an ETB, sleeving them in perfect fits, then leaving them as so until you need to use them is a good way to stretch them out.
