as in, they bought literally every card in the store? Or just older cards? Either way, thats a wild story. Pretty depressing that they just sold them everything too.
All pokemon cards and what ever was mixed in the boxes. They spent quite a few thousands. The shop was a collectables and thrift store not a dedicated card shop. I was lucky to have bought what I did before they came in. Week before someone claimed they wanted all the holos but the deal fell through so I was lax about rushing to buy

I don’t keep a close eye on the market but I picked up a PSA9 1st ed Shining Gyarados mid-2024. I recently became aware of what it’s selling for today and was very surprised.
Could be an isolated card though. I hope so.
there are a few cards like this, base set unlimited 9 zard (prolly not surprising), but stuff like fossil gengar, skyridge gengar, og moonbreon have gained a ton prolly more than double since last year. most of the gold stars as well

Prices on ebay have been going down over the past few days. I don’t know if it will continue
whats crazy is I just pulled a Giovanni’s Charisma out of 151. I said okay thats a nice one. I looked at some comps and… wow
boy did that come up. Sellers are now asking for over $200
and Persian from shrouded fable… have you seen this single absolutely skyrocket?

I’ve been trying to complete my binder of normal and 1st edition cars and the market feels hot. I’ve had to buy everything over the PriceCharting prices for NM and PSA7. It’s been frustrating.
Do you think it’s worth it to just wait? There’s basically an infinite amount of these cards in PSA 7 condition available at all times
Possibly, but I’m impatient. I should probably just take a break for a bit and only buy if the price makes sense.

i’ve had three oldbacks listed on my ebay for about 2 years at this point (meaning not sold).
- 1 mp/hp jungle pidgeot for $10
- 2 lp neo cards (hitmontop, bellossom) for $12 ea
we just need another influencer to pump them back up. maybe we can get trump or milei to tweet them out

Base is going down but none of the other WOTC sets. I do see more diversification of price ranges within cards of the same set over the past 3 months.
I’m really starting to think that Base has moved out of the popularity window due to collector age though.
