USPS Auctioned my Slab 🤬

How can they suck when they are #1 in every metric?

Yet, every package that ever goes missing that people cry about here was shipped with USPS

Wouldn’t condone it but I would not judge you at all if you did that.

The only problem is that USPS is the ONLY institution that will insure for up to 50k with registered mail. I felt so secure thinking that they have the kind of lock-and-key manual transpo but moreover the whole signing for liability between transfers of hands. But after hearing about Leonhart, I couldn’t believe it. Seriously COULD NOT believe it. How can that be true? Am I naive or something? Because it seems that they should easily be able to find out where it is because the last person who signed for it is responsible. It is scary. Someone there is basically lying in his case and it isn’t cool. But I personally would never ship anything over 20k. I’d hand deliver that shit. One day I’m gonna sell my 1st ed set. I will fly anywhere in the country to deliver that personally. Ain’t no way no how I’m handing that to anyone but the customer. Why wouldn’t Leonhart have done the same? Shit.

The Urge is high. Trust me, but with myself personally being on record already as actively seeking the item back, It may not work out in my favor .

I tried to pull the, “Well, This serial # is reported to PSA as stolen, so if it goes back for Reholder it will be returned to me” thing, but I was me with, “If it doesn’t get returned to us or the buyer you will be held Liable” thing.

Because they don’t;)

Ok wtf why is that a thing… I find it crazy they just auction items that actually would belong to someone

I don’t know where you’re getting your information from but it’s incorrect. While the US does have the highest 5-year survival rates for certain cancers, it’s misleading to say that they have the #1 cancer survival rate because in aggregate they don’t.

Besides, cancer survival rates are not the only indicator used to measure healthcare quality. There are more holistic ways of assessing healthcare quality than just measuring health outcomes. Here’s a widely-cited paper published by WHO where the US ranks #37. Albeit a bit outdated, their methodology in assessing healthcare is seen as the most comprehensive. Here’s another well-designed publication on healthcare systems that measures the healthcare quality of 11 developed countries. US ranked #11.

And I’m not sure how the # of patents correlates to healthcare quality? Is there really a point to medical/drug patents if most of them are junk? And in the rare cases the patents come to fruition, most of them end up excessively marked up.

Anyways, I’m not here to debate the pros/cons of the US healthcare system. All I want to say is that USPS does a damned excellent job with the resources they have available. Sure, mistakes will be made but that’s not because they’re a public service, it’s because they’re a business and businesses make mistakes.

did you have anything inside the package that contained your details ? like your name and address?

You should also realize that the only reason other countries can have socialized medicine is because the US does all the innovation. If the US went away, the healthcare systems of all European countries would instantly collapse.

By that logic, if China went away US innovation would halt since US companies would no longer have access to the cheap tools/equipment required to work.

Regardless, I think most people would argue what you’re saying is a benefit of globalization. After all, why spend resources trying to accomplish something that’s already been done? US companies sell their drugs/medical devices to other countries and get compensated. Wouldn’t you say that’s a mutually beneficial transaction?

China doesn`t innovate anything, they produce things at a cheap price. If China went away, US companies would produce things in Vietnam instead for the same price.

Anyway…

@pontislack that is absolutely bananas, crazy, and BS and I would definitely not let this go. If you have proof that it’s your pack (if it has the same cert number then you must do) then I’d try chasing them up again if possible.

If he really did win it at a USPS auction (?) then hopefully they should be able to verify that, even if they can’t disclose it to you. Plus, the original receipt should detail the order/item sold.

@burpies how dare you suggesting that any other nations besides the US have working public services? And HOW DARE YOU implying that anything but full-fleshed, stone cold capitalism can ever work anywhere in the world? You better shut your filthy commie mouth right now or there will be sent some freedom along your way. Murica, f*ck yeah!
/sarcasm.

You won’t change people’s political opinions here, no matter how many facts you bring up. It’s mind-boggling at times, but it is what it is and it’s only a Pokemon forum after all.

BTT: The fact that it is legal for them to sell stuff that they were responsible to deliver is ridiculous. Shouldn’t be allowed IMO.

Sounds like USPS is the US version of UK’s Hermes.

Of course that’s true but…what would we suggest they do with it all?

Maybe implement an online lost and found platform where you can get your stuff back if you can provide definitive proof of purchase or shipment documents etc.? If no owner can be found after say 6 weeks, they can still auction it off.

Would be a lot of extra work for USPS of course, but at the same time help to regain some trust in them.

They can only sell items that cannot be traced back to the original owner. so there was no return address visible etc.
but im sure since its a psa item with a unique reference code you could legally prove you own that item you should have grounds to claim it back through the courts…surely?

I think the court procedures would cost you much more than what most cards are worth. Also I am sure there is some sort of a time-clause which releases the original owner from ownership after a certain time period.
