UPDATE: Ray Rizzo Autos officially recognized by PSA!

It’s not the first time I’ve had a card autographed for me. It’s not the first time Ray Rizzo (3 time VGC worlds winner) has signed a card either. But it is the first time Ray Rizzo has been documented signing for anyone. Ever. And it just so happens to be for me!

VGC guys don’t get enough love, so I sent Ray 18 cards (plus one for a friend!) with unique artwork, for each Pokémon on his previous winning teams! The artworks selected even include cards printed in years that he won, adding a little extra special flair.

While I’m a typical PSA 10 chaser for various cards and sets that I like, sometimes it’s much more important to get something different outside of your normal collecting goals. This opportunity was so unique and rare that I wanted to share it with the world. No matter what you chase, never forget the most important chase of all: the passion and the joy found within the community.

A special thank you to @BANKS for documenting this occasion!

UPDATE:

Cards are back from PSA! Completely thrilled with these as I had no idea what the auto grades would look like, but knew full well most of the card grades would be lower (most bought raw or cracked in lower grades). PSA could not authenticate one of the cressy cards but I’m just going to resubmit it as it is in fact an authentic autograph.

It was my pleasure to help you get your cards signed, always happy to help a friend and a passionate VGC fan :slightly_smiling_face:

Super cool theme you have going on with his teams and the years. What was the momentous occasion he was giving out autographs, or how did this chance come up? Did he sign them all for free? I also agree the VGC could get some more love. I watch wolfey alot, but need to branch out more tbh.

That was fun to watch and it must have been super special to get the cards signed. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers!

No occasion, I just asked him and he said sure. Wrote him a little letter and then a ton of cards to sign. He liked a lot of the artwork so I hear so that’s a fun plus to add him to our little part of the community.

Got some help from @BANKS who helped me with the introduction. Ray did not ask for compensation despite me offering it (just confirms the fact that he is a super humble guy).

I recently went to a convention (PAXU) and sat in on a panel that discussed what works really well for each of their companies. The main thing that came up was: Just ask. So I’ve now started to do that with VGC folks. Can’t hurt to try!
