[UPDATE] Moes.Cards on IG goes against his word twice, screws me over and profits off me

Not really anything I can do at this point, I will persist and own that card eventually (and with a better victory story behind it). I’ll post this link a few more times on social media, just to share what happened and let others make their own conclusions.

I appreciate everyone’s feedback regardless!

Damn, this sucks. I’m sorry this happened to you. This guy made a really scummy move.

So i’ve dealt with him before, he is a buyer for a decent amount of booths/companies at card shows. He seems to be a nice guy every time i’ve chatted with him, but I believe his business model is exactly this. Buy a card risk free using someone elses money, spend the day buying others and trying to flip any of them risk free if they don’t sell. Its an extremely solid idea in practice on his end (albeit, shady). I’ve never used him as a buyer, just sold to him before. He recently just opened up his buying to more public clients on IG before Chicago.

Outside of the rampant financial embezzlement, he’s a great guy :pikalaugh:

Thats an understatement lol

Haha, just a little. But don’t get me wrong, I am not advocating for him at all, i’ve only met him a few times, just sharing my experience with the guy in person. Took me a few times meeting him and seeing his socials to grasp what he was doing, but his personality could fool many people. He isn’t the, “Bro type” running around cons, if you know what I mean.

That’s funny, he told me this was the first time he bought a card with someone elses money and that it was all just a “Test” that failed.

Pathological liar with seemingly no moral compass.

The dude sounds sketch as hell just from the way he talks. As everyone else has said, legal or not, the guy lied and used your money to make a buck under false pretenses. Shitty and probably actually illegal if you really analyzed it (legal contracts do not always require a signed piece of paper, they can be made much less formally- Requirements of a Legally Binding Contract | Nolo).

And agreed that he deserves to be put on blast. Integrity matters and telling the truth about people who lack is a great way to get more of it.

Lack of morals. It was because of you he even looked for that specific card and with YOUR money. He didnt mention anything beforehand and waited until you sent the money to tell you its not really yours. On top of that Im sure he was going out of his way to flip it. A true scumbag. The “you didnt even do anything or give me a fee” he never asked and gladly accepted to help willingly lol the excuses he came up with to not look like a weasel are pathetic. Sorry this happened.

I think there’s a chance the card will end up back in your ownership. I can’t imagine being the buyer, seeing all this controversy & still wanting the card. If they post it or try to show it off it’ll just be linked back to you & this drama, which must be uncomfortable.

They might return it & Moe sells it back to you at your og price just to save face.

Imagine getting blasted on e4, Instagram, and on Rattle’s YouTube channel for $900. :skull:

What irks me the most about this situation is how nonchalant Moes.Cards was about the whole thing. I can’t imagine treating someone’s hard-earned money so carelessly.

To reiterate, Tony reached out to me about this situation before making this thread, naturally I reached out to see if I could perform a Christmas miracle for him. (hey you can always cross my bridge :face_with_hand_over_mouth:)

Unfortunately to no avail, not a single honest word came out of the guy besides constantly contradicting himself, so I just left it at that.

Here’s how that went btw:

A failed test where he gladly pockets $900. I guess the failure was his integrity & character.

I would love for that to happen tbh, I still dearly want the card and will pay slightly more than before. Im not optimistic though, and I still don’t know who bought it.

This was a comment on rattle’s video.

He mentions that it’s complicated because he clearly knows he did something bad but has rationalized to himself. The rationalization being that it was too much money to not, quote, “fuck u over”.

The complication is internal. The cognitive dissonance of knowing you did the wrong thing and trying to justify it in a way that is socially acceptable.

In reality, it’s not complicated at all. It’s clear-cut embezzlement to the point where you could probably bring it to a small claims court.

(This is for the US government to prove but you get the idea)

Damn that sucks. He could’ve remained anonymous but actively chose to show everyone that he’s trash too.

Not only is he a Scammer, he also became a case study for Psychology.

“won’t fuck u over 800 or less tho”

Translation: I will fuck u over for $801 though

“sent u an extra 100 for the shitty deal gone wrong”

Translation: I know what I’ve done is wrong, but as I’ve stated earlier, my reputation is for sale.

Lol, this guy is an idiot. Not that anyone asked, but I for one am totally fine with him receiving a bunch of negative publicity. Deceivers and flipping someone’s trust for your gain is an extremely effective way to showcase how much of a scumbag you are. I have pretty minimal tolerance for people like that.

Sorry this happened to you @mrtz
