I don’t typically run auctions so I’m looking to understand the state of the market from others that do. Out of the last 11 auctions I ran over the past two weeks, four have not been paid for in a reasonable amount of time and no communication from winner. Is this just normal right now for pokemon buyers on ebay? The first one was from a buyer with no feedback so it didn’t surprise me, the latest three are all from established accounts with a fair amount of feedback.
It’s always been hit or miss for auctions. Whether it be buyers remorse, shilling, or just bidding for the thrill of it.
Just make sure you don’t manually cancel and let it auto cancel (check your settings) after 4 days so they get a strike and won’t be able to bid on auctions.
My long term rate of unpaid auctions is about 10% (over a 5 year period)
However sometimes you’ll get abnormally high percentages without apparent cause. Just bad luck.
Usually, for me, if the auction ends and it is a steal and ended low, it is paid within 30 seconds of the auction ending.
If the auction ends and it is close to market value, it is paid within 5 days.
If the auction ends a little above market or higher, never paid…
Auctions are lose lose for me
You summarized exactly what I think happened with my auctions. Only the ones that went for close to the lowest list buy it now are sitting unpaid. Almost turns me off from doing auctions at all, just wait a little longer and make them buy it and pay immediately
I’ve seen an increase in buyers not paying for BIN accepted offers.
That is why I have stopped doing any auctions and more toward convention selling lol. At least there i get cash in hand.
