Tyranitar's T​rump Card

I’m a huge fan of Tyranitar and have always felt its rookie card from Neo Discovery was his best print. I know a lot of people prefer Shining Tyranitar and some might prefer Expedition or Aquapolis.

In terms of value I believe they rank:

  1. Shining Tyranitar
  2. Neo Discovery Tyranitar
  3. Aquapolis Tyranitar
  4. Expedition Tyranitar

Obviously, Shining Tyranitar’s exceedingly low pull rate warrants it being the rarest of the four.

Although, we wouldn’t say that Shining Charizard is the t​rump card of its species.

Do you guys think the Neo Discovery variant is overlooked or justified behind the Shining variant?

What makes you rank the Aquapolis variant over Neo Discovery and Shining?

Back when I played Pokemon, I LOVED playing Neo Discovery Tyranitar. It won me a lot of games.

  4. Shining Tyranitar
  5. Expedition

    All the WOTC prints are fine addition to each set they belong but at least now I prefer e-series over Neo. :blush:

I think it might be my favourite with Aquapolis being a very close 2nd. The others I actually think are a few tiers below. I love his pose and the watercolour art style. And the background goes so well with the black dark type card. The holo pattern starts as pink/purple on the left and goes to a deep red which looks amazing in person. Probably a top 10 card ever for me, but that may be nostalgia talking as I pulled it when I was younger.

1st edition neo discovery is tops for me since it’s the first appearance. Maybe it’s because I used to collect comic books but I’m all about the first appearances
