Long story short, I bought a neo discovery set that was supposed to be ex-nm condition. Received the cards, and conditions definitely range but there are some holos that are HP (one is creased). I had used a $10 eBay coupon that I’m fairly sure I’d just lose if I returned the whole set. Seller isn’t willing to do partial refunds and would rather just take a return. I’d hate to just lose $10 but at the same time I’m not sure the set was a good value given the condition. What would you do?
I get that, but the loose “EX” typically occurs from random people selling cards. This seller only sells cards so I was expecting at least some quality control
I’d return them, I’d rather lose 10 bucks then lose the 200 something dollars and have cards I didnt like/wasnt happy with. If you think the cards are worth what you paid then consider that in your decision too. But if you think them being in that condition for that price has you “ripped off” then return them. You’re lucky to have been offered a return! That doesn’t always happen so easily.
If you’re not happy with the amount of money you traded for what you received, then return it. Also, depending on which cards were creased or HP, you could consider searching for better copies of those singles, while reselling the ones you’re not happy with to help make up the difference.
Looks like all the votes are to return, which I do think I’ll feel better about. Thanks for the input everyone. I absolutely hate buying raw for this exact reason…
You’ll start building up a database of names from whom you can (and can’t) buy raw from. Once you get burned, that’s it. Buy no more cards from that person.
That’s how I do it and every time I have to pay for it, I know it’ll be the last time I’ll have to be disappointed with that person’s card grading capabilities.
