I am looking to start buying some booster boxes to save for the future (maybe open or just keep) and am wondering what people are thinking about Fates and Siege. I personally think that Fates might be good since it is Physic based set, and they tend to be desired and thus the price rises. For Siege, the unique dual type cards may make it the next delta species. Plus both have the gold border cards, which many are starting to collect. Just food for thought - S
I don’t see much potential in these sets for at least five years. The Alakazam SR is literally a $4 card, and these sets have been printed to the moon and back.
I would feel more comfortable with sets PHF and before, better yet, PRE - XY , they are pricier, but are out of print, and I would expect decent growth in 5-10 years.
Fate’s most expensive card is barely over $10. I’d rather buy 7 FA Glaceon ex than a box of that. Steam Siege might be an ok box, but only long term and don’t expect giant growth.
Would it be better to buy Furious Fists boxes? Trying to spend less than $200.
The only modern box to invest is flash fire, the rest are pretty much geared towards TCG players. Flash fire was a Charizard set so collector’s will always flock to that.
Best investment from Fates/SS will probably be PSA 10 FA/SR. Not many desirable cards in both at least for now. I’m sure that Alakazam SR will rise in price over time though, great artwork. IMO it’ll be a long time until we see box prices start to rise.
Save up money and buy Flashfire boxes.
the umbreon full art is pretty sweet in Fate’s Collide aswell.
Fates Collide was the first set I bought when I got back into pokemon after like 10 years of. I don’t think the boxes will have a high value in the future cause of the cards themself, but more from the nostalgi.
A lot of people got back into pokemon the same time as me and this set might have been the first set they bought.
If I had some money I would personally buy a 3-4 just to have some incase my theory is right. Steam Siege is gonna be a better bet in therms of the cards, but then again it had less popular pokemon, unlike Fates that had Lugia and Alakazam as mascots
