With people being priced out of 1st and shadowless, I could imagine a world in where it becomes the more affordable rare variation of base that more people would go for.
is there an easy way to find these ābase 2000ā cards (trying to complete a Venusaur collection)? if i search base 2000 on ebay it gives me base set 2 cards, so im literally looking at every base unlimited listed and checking the year on the bottom. to say the least its a headache!
The Poland seller is legit. Has a seemingly endless supply of the packs with the stickers on the back. Iāve gotten hundreds pf packs from him over the years and though there are some 1999 holos my 1999-2000 rate has been solid. PSA 10 rate is good too. Itās crazy because he pretty much sells at regular base unlimited market price and in my experiences itās been unweighed and fair.
I did have one god awful bit of luck recently and ran the odds to be 1:500 for my single batch. (1 holo out of 21 packs). It happened at a great time as by the time they reached me the per pack price shot up about $200 each so even as light packs I made money. Some will read that and say I got scammed and 99.99% of people on the buying end of that would assume they were, but the fact is with 500 buyers of 21 packs 1 of them statistically āshouldā get only one holo. To be similarly 1:500 lucky on 21 packs one would need to get 13 holos to counteract my bad luck and in the past Iāve seen crazy rates. It just the fact when you arent buying sealed boxes you dont get that 1:3 āguaranteeā. Looking back at some historical data even with the 1:21 bad batch I am still at just slightly over 1 holo per 3 packs.
Iāve always been able to earn a decent premium on these holos too. Not so much at all on the non holo base starters but they match the insane prices of the unlimited ones currently.
Just a tidbit that Iāve seen, prices for 1999-2000 decks have all been higher than the standard unlimited version for the past year at least, although the sellers have been relatively few and generally do label it 4th print/edition. Interestingly enough, besides the copyright information being different on the deck, the boxes also use the ānintendo international license productā seal instead of the āofficial nintendo product sealā. Hopefully it doesnt become a mainstream thing since Iām still missing zap, brushfire, and overgrowth boxes.
While I doubt it will ever see the prices or popularity of something like Shadowless, I think there will always be collectors who like to have something different or want to have every version of a card. This print run is certainly rare, especially the holos. Even though this is known to be the UK print run, as a UK based collector I have none. Since I am not collecting these that doesnāt bother me but I think that people underestimate just how few are out there compared to Unlimited.
Was a Clefable. Super clean front only a little bit of silvering on the left.
Only to look on the back and se no whitening but having a printline top to buttom far right.
