Random topic here but wondering about a certain collector I used to watch my first time coming back into the hobby. The two names in the title are her two channels on YouTube. I was casually running through old channel videos and came across one that brought me back. She had some insane sealed product from base set all the way up to the current set at the time back then… and opened them all! Was insane back then and between her, PrimetimePokemon, and TCA of course the golden days were set as far as YouTube viewing. Not to mention her fossil box opening happened to be a 1999-2000 Australia Fossil Box. Seeing @djgigabyte completed his fossil 2000 set it got me looking at this again.
She on e4 or still make videos? Would love to see her collection today or what she did after Youtube! In her Fossil 2000 opening it was even known to be a rarer print, but no one really thought to hold on to weirder stuff back then! So funny.
Hi everyone! I’m thecatsmeowth. While I still collect I haven’t been able to keep up with the english sets. I recently completed Burning Shadows but most of the sets since are incomplete. I did outright buy a couple of master sets as they were released but unfortunately cannot afford to do that every time. While I sold and traded extras during my time on youtube I did rely on YouTube ad income to supplement the costs of openings. As they have changed their policies over the years that income dropped to next to nothing. While that was certainly a factor in the end of my time on YouTube there were other life circumstances that forced me to stop. I was in an abusive gaslighting relationship with a member of the competitive pokemon community who would open packs I bought for openings, would discourage any time I put towards making videos, stole cards from my collection despite me providing him cards to play with, would fly into rages where he would destroy cards and my other possessions including thousands of dollars in property damage, etc… It wasnt until I got pregnant that I “woke up” and kicked him out. I was actually tempted to sell the entire collection at that point but couldn’t do it. I would love to post collection update videos but I do worry if my ex would check the channel and do anything. I had to defriend a lot of pokemon friends because he was using their facebook accounts to spy on me. I do really miss the good years on YouTube and wish I had known that pokemon sealed product would have been worth so much today! I would have certainly invested whatever I could have afforded! It’s awesome to know that people remember me and still enjoy the channel!
For sure! I opened up a booster box worth of first edition gym challenge myself. If only we knew better haha.
I was TheShiningNatedogX back then… (yeah I know, kinda dumb lol). I would watch your videos and just be in awe. A strong factor for me doing it back then. I was struggling to keep up with the newer ultra and secret rare quantities and ended up focusing more on other stuff as well. Sorry to hear about that situation, seems like you made the right choice by getting out. I hope everything turned out to be ok for you and your family!
Now that I’ve been hitting it hard again I’ve been going back and watching a lot of the stuff that inspired me the first time around. This time I’m all in, just kinda keeping a distance from the newer stuff until it gets rolling. If you come back I’ll be the first watching for sure! There are many new friends to be found if you ever need some help with something!
