A few recent finds allowed me to string a half decent sequence of DP era open boxes together. Iām not a particular fan of the CG artwork of this era, but I do like them as display units, with Dawn Dash as my pick of the bunch.

I seem to have developed a liking for Normal type Base pokemon. I think it stems from a while back when I was sorting through my old collection and finding some UK 4th print 1999-2000 cards, and I was really struck by their subtle slight lightness in colour compared to my regular unlimited ones. Anyway, I saw these on ebay and thought āYup, Iāll have those,ā another avenue to explore.
I really like the juxtaposition between the Sugimori and CG Imakuni artwork on these cards; One with centuries old traditional hand drawn skill and the other using some Windows95 photoshop software.

Silly question, how does one start getting into collection the japanese series? Its quite hard to find this stuff in general. Loving how well these photos are turning out though!
Sadly itās not sealed, or full, but it looks so good! Super pleased to finally have a proper home for my Neo 3 packs. Just one more to go now.
Easiest way is to add āJapaneseā to your searches, brings up loads of stuff.

And now for something different. Iāve always liked these gold border XY ultra rares by Mitsuhiro Arita, especially the subtle artwork extension into the border. The Gyarados, Alakazam and Gardevoir are my top picks, then Mewtwo (Blue Shock), with Mewtwo (Red Flash) and Volcanion bringing up the rear.
What even is Volcanion? A giant lobster pretzel monster?
