I guess this is the original deck box case that they were distributed in. Bit of a shame they didn’t embellish it like it’s English counterparts.

A few recent finds allowed me to string a half decent sequence of DP era open boxes together. I’m not a particular fan of the CG artwork of this era, but I do like them as display units, with Dawn Dash as my pick of the bunch.
DP3 Shining Darkness Unlimited Edition
DP4 Moonlit Pursuit 1st Edition
DP4 Dawn Dash Unlimited Edition
DP5 Cry from the Mysterious Unlimited Edition
DP5 Temple of Anger

I seem to have developed a liking for Normal type Base pokemon. I think it stems from a while back when I was sorting through my old collection and finding some UK 4th print 1999-2000 cards, and I was really struck by their subtle slight lightness in colour compared to my regular unlimited ones. Anyway, I saw these on ebay and thought “Yup, I’ll have those,” another avenue to explore.
I really like the juxtaposition between the Sugimori and CG Imakuni artwork on these cards; One with centuries old traditional hand drawn skill and the other using some Windows95 photoshop software.

Umm WHAT!! Your saying this Korean dratini was up on ebay, when I’ve been searching for a whole year for someone to sell me a korean dratini D:
I guess so, sorry
It turns out I bought these from @dipzy

It’s okay, it’s the journey of searching that I like anyways
Nice, nice to see the cards again, enjoy em
Neo Handy Guide Books - I completed the group after getting Discovery and Revelation, and think they look really great all together. The art and colour perfectly match their box and pack counterparts.

Thanks! But I hope the best is still yet to come. I’ve got some ideas, and some inspiration from you, but this is as much as I can do right now.

Silly question, how does one start getting into collection the japanese series? Its quite hard to find this stuff in general. Loving how well these photos are turning out though!
Sadly it’s not sealed, or full, but it looks so good! Super pleased to finally have a proper home for my Neo 3 packs. Just one more to go now.
Easiest way is to add ‘Japanese’ to your searches, brings up loads of stuff.

And now for something different. I’ve always liked these gold border XY ultra rares by Mitsuhiro Arita, especially the subtle artwork extension into the border. The Gyarados, Alakazam and Gardevoir are my top picks, then Mewtwo (Blue Shock), with Mewtwo (Red Flash) and Volcanion bringing up the rear.
What even is Volcanion? A giant lobster pretzel monster?
