Haha, I know the struggle! I have at least 2-3 cartridges I’ve thought about new gaming so many times but they’re chock-full of event shinies and perfect IVs.

Just picked up where I left off on my 3ds for Pokemon Silver.

I’m grinding to get my team ready for the E4. A complaint I’d have is I can only really train PokĆ©mon to beat the E4 in Victory Road, and with all the rock and ground type, it’s really hard to train electric, fire and normal PokĆ©mon. I’m forced to use my Totodile as my main and exp share for other Pokemon. Anyway, I go through with the grind because its rewarding and I love this game. If anyone has any better ideas to train for the Elite 4, let me know!

Can anyone explain to me why the music is so unique in these games? Are they done in a certain key or something?

Just spend all your money before hand and just no item the elite 4 until you’re strong enough to win.

Not quite Gen II but I started a new file on the fan translation of the second Pokemon TCG game on GBC for the first time in a few years. It’s a shame Nintendo never made anything like it again. The second part of the game has all these gimmick duels which force you to make use of your whole collection, like ā€œyour deck must have four Magikarpā€ etc. No relying on Do The Wave or Rain Dance decks here. And I’m yet to pull a Scyther or Hitmonchan from a booster. Base through Rocket is very fun when you can’t rely on the optimised metagame.

Any word if this merchandise for G&S 25th Anniversary is real?

Reviving this thread out of necessity. I just stumbled upon this mini-documentary by BlueBoyPhin that is absolutely incredible. It explores the inspiration for the Ruins of Alph and draws all sorts of connections between ancient Japan and Gold and Silver versions.

It’s possible I’m late to the party, but I learned so much about the Johto region and how it mirrors a ton of real world locations in Japan. This video is absoutely worth a watch for anyone crazy about Gen 2 like I am.

Highlights in the vid:

  • Ruins of Alph explored and compared to real-world locations
  • Origins of Lugia and Ho-Oh explored
  • Overview of ancient Japanese culture and legend and how it ties into Pokemon
  • Explanation of Unknown and its design inspirations
  • So much more
