Thanks, @papafrankgod! This version is still new-ish. Right now there are three forms of this artwork: Dragon Majesty in English and the two in Japanese are Dragon Storm & Misty Trainer Battle Deck. The Trainer Battle Deck version finished my trifecta.

Oh man. This is awesome and my checklist just got bigger lol. Gyarados collector myself, but focusing on the English cards (only a few away) and the japanese cards that came from sets or promos not available in english. Also i mat have missed it but have you collected all the topps variants? Im trying to figure out what all is available.

I’m not @azulryu , but I’ve made a Gyarados list in the past (very outdated and contains some mistakes unfortunately, since I made it mid-2017). @shizzlemetimbers may have an up-to-date list, since he collects English and Japanese Gyarados as well.
As for your questions regarding the Topps variants available, I recently posted this here. Gyarados was in the third set, so should be available as non-Holo; Rays; Flames/Teardrops; Balls/Cross-hearts; Sandpaper; Squares and Rectangles; Dents; Smooth Silver; and Smooth Rainbow. And those are just the holofoil variations, because there are also blue logo, black logo, green logo, red logo, and circle Nintendo logo variations of most of these. And there is another Gyarados in the second Chrome set, which should be available as Chrome Standard; Chrome Spectre; Chrome Sparkle; and Chrome Tekno. Some more information about Topps holofoil variations, which is where I got most of this info from, is from this Topps article from @samsamsamsmsms (he might perhaps have pictures of each Gyarados, since he collects Topps cards).

Thanks everyone! I have a few more cards under way from Japan so it may take a while. My roomies got me Animal Crossing so that’s eaten up a lot of time as I’ve been making up for a lack of a social life through that with other friends. Haha
I’ll post more pictures but I upgraded to a new binder that should hold me for a number of years considering it holds over 300 cards.

I have a rather expansive Flats collection, but to be honest, it’s fallen off in terms of my interest towards it. That being said, I only have 3 of the variants that @quuador mentioned with no real motivation to purchase any more of the Topps cards (especially since the rarer ones are pretty pricey). I’ve been focusing on my TCG collection more than anything and will probably pick it up again once I complete my major wants (Rage of the Broken Heavens Unlimited & New Year Promo).

Thanks all! This took longer than expected but I always wanted to do something like this since I surpassed my old 100 card milestone.
@papafrankgod , you will get them for sure one day! At least you’re not my buddy on IG who is trying to collect 3 of each variant. Your goals are a lot more reasonable to start out with. XD
Fun little side note: I went to my best friend’s house to help him rip up some old tile. His wife’s nephew (who is 5) was there at the time and brought up about how much he loved Pokemon. I asked him what his favorites were and he said, “Pikachu, Mew, Charizard, and Gyarados.” I showed him pictures of my collection and he was amazed. Asked my buddy’s wife if she could gift him a Gyarados card on my behalf and she loved the idea.

Everytime I think about completing a full card list of a certain favorite pokemon of mine and then I come across these threads I’m like O.o man, always a lot more cards than I thought, maybe next time lol. Great collection!

Please don’t let collections like mine intimidate you! I’m intimidated and inspired by other collectors. Heck, there are other Gyarados collectors like @shizzlemetimbers who have already completed their collections and I started mine over 20 years ago!
If you have collection goals, work towards them. I’ve made mine more focused since I don’t make much money and because it started with 5 Gyarados cards that became an adventure. Even if you’re collecting one or two Pokemon specifically, and collect responsibly, the journey is worth it. I’ve learned the hard way that it’s not the cards themselves that matter most, but the journey towards your collection, the memories made, and the journey itself that matters the most.

Charizard, Scyther and Jolteon unfortunately haha. Once I raise money for my holy grail I’ll probably start on binders for scyther and jolteon, I don’t think my wallet can handle all 3 of my faves in PSA 10 form lol

@mikem, yeeeaaaah Charizard’s hard. Scyther and Jolteon seem fun and I think there can be a lot of appreciation to be gained for collecting Pokemon that aren’t as “popular” to the mainstream. Scyther is one of my favorite Pokemon so I’m in full support of that. Haha. Best of luck with your holy grail and I’m looking forward to seeing your Scyther/Jolteon collection in time. 
Haha thanks, it’ll get there eventually. Always good to see another scyther fan, this forum showed me some new scyther stuff I didn’t even know existed. Never really got into the japanese side but I might have to for the binder collection, that scyther holo from the japanese starter is my favorite.

@azulryu, looks awesome! Crazy when it is layed out like that it looks a lot easier than it truly is to get these cards one missing piece can literally take years lol. What are your thoughts on the more sideline Gyarados cards like Bandai and Topsun etc? I think I’m slowly being converted into grabbing them I think I need a no number Topsun
