That being said. I had a discussion with Shizzle and I found out that I’m missing quite a few more cards than I had thought. I keep feeling like I always find out more unlimited/1st Editions of the Japanese cards which is frustrating as there isn’t an accessible way to tell which sets released as unlimited/1st editions.

Woohoo they arrived! Yeah it’s those bloody unlimited cards, L1 will be the most difficult. 2016 will be the year of complete Gyarados collection and we will go halves in a time share for the Snap Gyarados once we win the lottery

I keep track the same way for my Pikachu’s - always on the look out for cards I’m not aware of, and I put a LOT of time into the research and looking over the past months. This resulted in a spreadsheet of over 600 Pikachu cards - something I definitely wouldn’t have been able to do outside of a spreadsheet I think! Haha.
In any case, I love seeing how close you are getting with your goal! It’s always such a great feeling getting in cards you knew you were missing and were waiting on in the mail. Good luck with Japanese Unlimited! If you find a good source for them, let me know as I’m missing some unlimited cards as well but can’t seem to find a good spot to buy them.

Been a little busy with school and such. And as such, I’ve had a lot of cards come in recently including my BGS order.
Here we have the XY9 English Series including some reprints of Gyarados. Also Japanese alts that I didn’t have because damnit they keep popping up!
But now to some of the BGS goodies. I felt lucky as this was my first time submitting and only did 4 cards. These first two I’m going to sell:

And this makes me happy and weep at the same time. I’m wondering if I could resubmit it since I’m hard pressed to see where it’s off centered. I can see why they might mistake it with the upper left corner having a weird in-lay design that extends out of the center. But we’ll see. For now I’ll keep it and the POP is 1. 3/4 subgrades received perfect 10 with Centering getting a 9.5. Still a 10 Pristine. Just not black label.
And now a question. BGS received my order on the 3rd, so that means the turnaround date for the 20-day submission I ordered started on the 4th. They didn’t grade the cards until the 29th, the same day they also sent them out in transit. That’s 25 days. They have a guarantee on their turnaround dates but on the order form, they have a “Final Submission Due Date” which they posted for the 29th. Do I still get their guaranteed refund?

If they don’t get it shipped on the exact due date then you get a refund.
I think they go by business days not just days. That would be dumb to put it in your policy PSA doesn’t do
that either. I don’t think you’r due a refund.

@justinator , thanks so much! And I knoowwww. But for a first time submission, I’m counting my blessings. And I feel confident that if I can do this well on my first try, I might be better along the way. I’ve caught the grading bug now, but I’m only going to do it for cards I consider extra special/loved. I see why people do this to begin with. 
And thanks for the attempted fix, though! XD I realized as soon as I posted!

So which “due date” do I go by? They had their due date the “29th”, but if we’re going by 20 days, it should have been mailed out by the 24th. I guess that’s what I’m a little unclear about. XD
Nevermind! @hisoka107 brought up a solid point. I forgot to include business days as part of that. XD

To add on to what Hisoka said, you might want to check when exactly they start counting the turnaround time. PSA counts it from when they start grading the cards, not when they receive them at the post office. So even if PSA has had the cards for a week but hasnt started grading them, those days dont count towards their estimated turnaround. And yes, PSA goes by business days, so maybe Beckett does too.

Two years later and I finally make an update. I’ll make a separate post for my Flats Collection, but kind of want to make a general renewal posts of my current Card collection.
So in totality, here is my current Card Collection for the blue dragon (apologies in advance for some blurry photos):
Still wish I was able to get that Black Label 10. Cursed 9.5 on centering. Luckily I still have one card from @japanime that I think would make a great candidate but don’t have justification yet to only send one card out.
One of my favorite things about my collection is that I was able to get ahold of a Legion Elder Dragon case. This thing is HARDY and offers excellent display options for raw cards.
I order my cards in this fashion: Least Favorite Art to Most Favorite Art (My Original 5 is an exception at the end) and then my misprints/miscuts. I’ll usually order them from Prerelease/Promo/Staff stamp, to non-holo, reverse holo, holo, and English Unlimited, English First Edition, Japanese Unlimited, Japanese First Edition.

Obviously, still missing a couple of alts and some of the newer cards which I’m working on obtaining thankfully due to some of you. But overall, my collection is nearly complete.
@shizzlemetimbers, if you ever get the chance to help me cross-reference which alts I’m missing, I would greatly appreciate your time, but no pressure.
So yeah, that’s my main collection thus far.

Thank you! It’s the one thing that makes me feel glad I’m not trying to do a Graded collection as I don’t have the means to do so. But having the binder for my raw cards makes it so satisfying. I’m almost out of room though so there’s that to worry about for future cards. XD
And since I’m digging up my old stuff, might as well post some of my new Flats (I’ll have to make a separate post of all of my old flats):

Awaiting a couple of flats to arrive, but in the meantime I have another TCG update. Thanks to @xzini and @shizzlemetimbers for these beauties! Finally have some cards from the most recent releases.
As much as I love the detail and colors, I don’t really care for the art. XD
One of the best renditions of CGI/3D usage is on this version. Glad they seem to be focusing on some better detail instead of “Hey, let’s spend 20 minutes on this and call it $20 bucks!”
Absolutely love the art style on these.
And last but not least, I love the rainbow holographic. This is one of the best card arts for Gyarados in a long time in my personal opinion!

That being said, I’m coming down the line in terms of what I need to complete my Japanese/English collection. I only need a few variant stamps and some English cards. And the forever out of reach Snap card.
So I was thinking of how I could keep my collection alive in terms of TCG the last few months and something I have always loved was the look of BGS Black Label. So I figured, why not create my Original 5 collection through the Black Label?
I would start off with two, two, then one in this order to recreate the way I collected the cards originally as a kid:
- English Base Set Unlimited 1999 version
- English Team Rocket’s Dark Gyarados Unlimted Holo
- Japanese Misty’s Gyarados
- Japanese Giovanni’s Gyarados
- English Neo Shining Gyarados Unlimited
So if you think you guys have or come across any of these with perfect corners, edges, surfaces, and centering, please message me.

So some of you know that recently I’ve made certain things a priority - I’m working on music as a side project which required a new laptop and new software. I made a post months ago saying how I was going to sell my collection. Luckily enough, I only had to sell TWO cards from my entire collection to pay for them. Unfortunately, those two cards were also my rarest and some of my most prized: My Square Cut Shining Gyarados and my Miscut Error Double Gyarados.
In lighter news, the recent event in Hartford, CT, USA helped rejuvenate my want for collecting. I met up with a lot of awesome people both new and old from the World’s I attended years ago. Shout-out to @funmonkey54 for running the Collector’s Event - you did an incredible job. Also shout out to @silversnorlax204 , @pkmnflyingmaster , @djgigabyte , @fourthstartcg , and of course @reinasierpe for hanging out and meeting me (sorry if I forgot to tag anyone, I know I met a lot more of you).
That being said, I met a lot of people who decided to help me out with my collection, some people just straight up giving me cards! Here’s the new additions:
One of the Vendors from the Fossils group, even gifted me with this beauty. I hadn’t known how expensive of a card it was until I looked it up randomly. @funmonkey54 , if the people there are members, mind tagging them? The guy who gifted me this was to the left side of the booth and I wanted to thank him. I hadn’t known there was even a Staff version:
I was also gifted in a recent trade with @rustedharmony and got a gem of a package including awesome illustrations and some extras. Thank you so much for this as you were incredibly kind during the whole discussion and I was happy to give you something you had wanted back into your collection. I’ve kept the inside drawing for my Flat’s collection. It’s too perfect.

Now one thing I noticed was that for the Burning Shadows Gyarados, I thought I was gifted a Holo Bleed Error:
I was super stoked, and still super appreciative. However, after looking through a bunch of other regular holos of this card, I found that 7 out of the 12 I had had some form of Holo Bleed, which would make this a common error. It was hard to notice, but in this one that Rusted Harmony gave me, it’s a lot more noticeable. I decided to add it to my collection.
So yeah! That’s the update thus far. Still missing a few of the newer sets but am taking my time with my collection. I’m hoping that, in the long run, I can get my hands on a Double Gyarados Error again as well as that Square Cut Shining (and of course, a SNAP Gyarados). All in all, though, happy to be adding to my collection.
