The Giant Professional Grading Thread

Hi guys,
I am wondering firstly if it is worth regrading BGS cards that I own to PSA. Most of the cards that I own are PSA and I have some 9 and 9.5 BGS cards that I think could come back as a 10 in PSA.

Does anyone have experience with this, is it realistic?
Is it worth it?

Two that I am particularly interested in.

Japan new back (2005) 9.5 for edges, 9.5 surface 10 corners, 8.5 cantering. Front centring is completely fine rear is not good.

English card (2005) 9.5 edges, 9.5 surface, 9.5 centring, 9 edges.

if it was a zard with this damage, probably a 4 or 3. Any other card they should have given it a 6

Well if charizard is going to be graded harshly, then victreebel deserves a break. A 9 is fair with your scale

In order to cross to a PSA 10, you want a true 9.5 quad (9.5 or better on all subgrades) to have a chance. 9 edges has no chance, as I’m sure there are multiple specs of white on the edges. Post a picture of the card with 8.5 centering if you can, I know PSA does take backside centering into account.

Here are images of the back

Also I miss spoke before on the English card
English card (2005) 9.5 edges, 9.5 surface, 9.5 centring, 9 corners.

Both of those have too much edge and corner wear to cross, unless the grader stumbles into work hungover.

I feel like I have sent in cards in this condition and they have come back a PSA 10 before. I could be wrong I don’t send that many cards in.

Maybe dumb Question:

if BGS has a strong 4x 9.5 Graded Card and it is re-rated at Psa, do the old values of a card play a role ( kinda like orientation ) or is the card treated like a raw card because the valuation is from the competition company?

I’m considering beginning a personal campaign to get a BGS Black Label for a relatively inexpensive card I really like. This will allow me send in multiple of the card and hope for the best. I’ve submitted and received plenty of PSA 10s over the years but I’ve never sent anything to Beckett. Anyone have any thoughts/feedback/advice on the experience?

I will say my first impression isn’t super positive. In addition to being generally more esoteric than PSA I can’t get their online order form to work: www.beckett.com/grading/online-submit.

Also I can’t find where it clarifies what the difference between “Gaming” and “Non-Gaming” means to them.

Agree with Kpod on this too much edgewear. You very well may have in the past but I doubt either of these get a 10.

Treated like a raw card. PSA may see something BGS even missed and it could grade a 6/7 even. Same thing applies vice versa with BGS maybe seeing something PSA missed as well

Had a batch of CGC card get graded today and found something funny. I sent in 2 of every amazing rare and each card had a 9.0 and a 9.5… nothing higher and nothing lower. I know its a coincidence but I thought it was just a funny trend…

…or maybe its not a trend and its a conspiracy!!!

INDVL-13 is a bulk sub from late February, or possibly early march, i cant remember. Im 0% confident in PSA, the bulk registered prior to express. Like wtf psa!
I also send a express sub in February with a different middleman, he has had his march and april express subs returned already but no end in sight for the February express. Good ol’ PSA

Cheers to us soldiers who have officially hit the 1 year wait mark on pokespecial / bulk orders :fist:t3:

Still in grading phase of worse

Are these BGS cards without subgrades graded the same as BGS with sub grades but just not having the sub grades displayed on the card.

And why do these exist?

Random question: Does anyone have an example of a PSA 10 with a (MK) qualifier? Like an otherwise flawless card that someone non famous doodled on

Yes theyre graded the same way. You just pay half the cost of grading one with subgrades. A similar process can be done through CGC. Its more cost efficient if you’re planning on flipping the cards as the price difference is negligible if even there.

PSA 10s dont get qualifiers.
