The Giant Professional Grading Thread

@kingboo64, @kpod,

Gem Mint here is saying you can get a 10 still with print lines. Though this video is 3 years old. guessing they grade harder now? @gemmintpokemon was wondering if this is still true. thank you

Yes, I’ve seen many 10s with print lines. This of course included the 27 cert era. Many would argue bold printlines do not deserve 10s. I tend to agree 10s should be the best examples of cards.

Are they out there? Yes. Should they be? Probably not. We subjectively critique other’s assessments. Some collectors are much more particular than others.

when you write it like this, is your order input the same thing as Psa step 2 order prep?

@andrewr23,

not sure what you mean

My PSA has 8 steps

  1. Arrived 2/17
  2. Order Prep
  3. Research and ID
  4. Grading
  5. Assembly
  6. QA 1
  7. QA 2
  8. Shipping

The way you write it is different. On your steps when order was delivered, is this the same step as arrived? Mine arrived 2/17 and hasn’t moved since

Heard a few nightmare stories about PSA and Sugimori signatures. Went through on the first attempt and my client is super happy. Little bit jealous! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

By input, I’m pretty sure he means entered into the system. There’s a period between when something arrives at PSA (according to the tracking) and when PSA enters it into the system.

My express submission package arrived 2/1 and hasn’t even been entered as an order yet (just shows package arrived in their package tracker). Should I be worried?

@andrewr23,

oh my bad yes, i just copied format from another post on another forum. i didnt even notice

Quick questions I couldn’t find definitive answers for immediately regarding grading packs:
Did PSA swap over to their new slabs completely for standard packs? (My guess is no, they still use the old slabs for long packs)
And do they grade other language packs? (saw a German Jungle one so my guess is yes)

Thanks for helping me out!

Wonder if psacard.com issues are organic due to traffic logging in to submit or intentional in order to make it tough to submit and therefore push people into new pricing

its not just psa bgs and cgc did the same thing. ITs likely the only choice they had due to the card scene being so hot right now. It likely wont last forever and maybe the prices wont last forever either but it could last a long long time for sure. All collectibles have ups and downs and this is about as up as pokemon has ever been. Not expecting much downturn anytime soon

I assume you are talking about the cloudflare page blocking us from accessing the website? Was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this as well. Didn’t think of that aspect but I guess it would make sense. There were probably a ton of folks trying to cram in submissions prior to eom. I was able to get my orders done yesterday thankfully. I do hope this price increase discourages people from submitting junk and that it decreases turnaround time. I have a ton of orders in process. Many of which have been scanned in and not entered.

If you get stuck at the cloudflare page, clear your cookies for the website (different methods for this depending on your browser) or just visit in an incognito window.

It’s laughably bad at this point. I was trying to finish my submission and even in incognito mode, trying in two different browsers, you have to complete the captchas multiple times to advance one page in the submission process. Sometimes you get stuck in an infinite loop of captchas as well and just have to start all over. It’s just a mess.

Now have to confirm that I am a human and capable of identifying traffic lights to check on my professionally graded colored cardboard.

Hi, i found my old binder of very minty vintage cards. Can’t find much wrong with them except there’s a common theme of silvering and on some cards the chipping is a little bit worse, doesn’t look bad at first glance but if you really look closely or zoom in you can see black spots instead of yellow border.

How does this impact grading? I get 10’s and probably 9’s are out of reach but do they give it a 6 or is this still acceptable for nm grades?

Thanks!

For anyone with a lot of experience with BGS slabs: Can a BGS 9.5 surface have any print lines / holo scratches? I’ve heard people mention some PSA 10s have them so wondering how harsh BGS is with this.
