The Giant Professional Grading Thread

In addition to checking for creases/bends, also check to see if either stamp comes through to the back of the card as that sometimes happens.

I’m honestly still trying to find what is wrong with my card if there is even something wrong with it but thats what you get sometimes :smiling_face_with_tear:

can you take a closer picture from the left top corner? I think it have like a small piercing/perforation there? anyway, the card it’s pretty cool!

I just sent a rescue team pikachu in! Pmd fans rise up

My order arrived monday and is still on arrived. Not sure how long the process normally takes as its my first time, but ive definitely been checking it every few hours lmao

I checked just now and its just a speck of dust on the case :upside_down_face:

one of my value subs hasn’t been entered for 16 days now and no movement on any other orders for 10 days

My orders have been sitting in grading for a while, too, after a rather quick start.

For reference - Value order ($30 tier/90 card sub) entered 6/14/22 just hit QA1 today

Probably knock a grade. If everything is perfect then it can still get a 9 potentially.

Wtf PSA.

Pre grades

Post grades

Clearly a crease appeared

ouch I’ve never done it before but I remember someone getting compensated for a damaged card by PSA

Yeah, my July special arrived 8/3 and wasn’t entered until 8/17, so it took a bit!

I’m glad you said that! Just checked mine and it’s in QA1 as well!

It actually looks like the crease was there in the first picture, the top of the card isn’t completely straight

Take a look at the ā€œTā€ in trainer. there’s a small white crease line you can visibly see in the slab, but it is not in the original picture.

yea, there’s some surface indentation(?) from the yellow border, down, kinda between the T and R of trainer

These get distributed in plastic cases that are way too large for a small number of unsleeved cards, so edgewear (or worse on the edges) and surface dings and other issues are likely. Few of the Top X Festivals ever get even a 9, let alone a 10.

It almost looks like the indent is a V like on the Vstar cards and what not. Weird.

I have what I think might be a stupid question, but am curious. There’s a couple very niche cards I would really like to own in a PSA 10. The POP for them are extremely small, some don’t even have any 10s graded. I’ve been slowly trying to buy mint raw copies to submit. If I were to submit all that I think have a chance at a 10, I’m sure a bunch would still end up being 9s. Is it better off just sending all of them in at once and hoping for the best, or doing more staggered submissions to not flood the population?

No such thing as a stupid question!

If your goal is to own the PSA 10 copy, then I would send in as many copies as possible to increase your chance of a 10. You can always sell/trade the extras.

If your goal is to keep the population small to increase/retain the value of the PSA 10, then a staggered approach is fine. Just realize that you are potentially wasting time when you stagger your submissions, and sometimes time is more important than money/value.
