Only found out this thread now, will have to check if i have any useful additions here. Even though posted a long time ago i thought i’d mention about this set that it got cancelled and as far as i know only few promotional materials got released (i have a poster in my posession). The person who posted the question doesn’t seem to be active here anymore but mentioning if anyone else is interested about them

Thanks for letting me know that this set was canned, saves me a lot of hassle of adding some super obscure set in my checklist!
Also you own a poster relating to this canceled set? Nice!

Apparently i wasn’t right about your activity  but yeah, the poster tho is just same as upper half of the lower pic in your post so no new info on it

Figures it’s the same as what’s already online, it’d make sense. I don’t really talk on here that much, but I mostly watch this forum thread for updates on these obscure cards

Thought i’d add some cards i have in my possession that someone might find interesting. Some of these are more common but also some more obscure ones. I don’t have much information for many of these but i know some people that definitely can add information on some of these.

First would like to start with mentioning a small details about burger king trivia cards from the original post that i think would be nice to know if one is interested in them, in the photo there is a perforated card as mentioned in bulbapedia article (there were total of 20 different sheets of 9 cards so a lot of the cards had a double) but there also were cards with clean edges that were given separately as promo cards, so for every card there is 2 variants (or 3 for some of them if you count that for doubles their placement in sheets varies so the clean and perforated edge placements are different for cards from different sheets). Thought i’d mention since at least i personally wanted both versions

But for the rest:

Pokemon Kellogg’s game tip cards:

Bilingual canadian release where one side of card was in english and one in french, they came with Kellogg’s cereal boxes in 1999.

bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Game_Tip_Cards_(Kellogg)

Dimensions: width 64mm; height 83mm; thickness around the same as regular tcg card

Pokemon Ga-ole:

Arcade game tags that could be obtained by catching the pokemon in arcade game and then printing a physical copy of it (also the ball which was used to capture the pokemon gets printed so a lot of variants exist).

bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Ga-Ol%C3%A9
Gameplay: How to play Pokemon Ga Ole (English) - YouTube

Dimensions: width 45mm; height 73mm; thickness around 4mm, made of plastic

Pokemon Mezastar:

Very similar to Ga-ole. Also Pokemon Tretta and Pokemon Battrio with same kind of arcade game mechanics exist, made by same companies but i lack any copies of those (since no grimer or muk was released in either of them)

bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Mezastar

Dimensions: width 36mm; height 64mm; thickness around 4mm, made of plastic

Pokemon Cromo:

These were released in 1999 in Spain by Santizo Editores and they were sold in boosters of 6 cards. The sales mechanics was quite unique since the boosters were sold in strips hanging from the stores where the amount of boosters bought was removed from the strip, so no booster boxes with this set. The set consists of 96 cards and while i don’t know the exact set list i know that they only released the first form of all evolution stages and all the single stage pokemon (including pokemon like legendary birds, mewtwo and mew) and some puzzle pieces putting together some characters and their pokemon from anime.

Dimensions: width: 63mm; height 89mm; thickness and overall card feel is similar to topps cards

Pokemon 3Reyes:

These aren’t licensed products, i would compare them to funskool, but if i’ve understood correctly they are basically “the official” peruvian pokemon product so i included them anyway. They used to be licensed under the name of Navarette but they lost the license in 2016 when they started printing products under different name.

3reyespokemon.blogspot.com/p/checklists.html

Dimensions: width: 64mm; height 90mm; thickness around the same as regular tcg card

I’ll also include these but i don’t have any setlists or “official” info for them, just adding the bits of info i have and someone else can add to it.

Pokemon topsun sticker sets:

Even though cards made by topsun may be the more popular ones, they also did a big chunk of stickers. There is two different kinds of sticker types as far as i know, each the same size as amada stickers so 52mm side with a thickness of regular sticker.

The first ones i believe were released first, from the regular stickers in the photo i know not all pokemon were printed in them, don’t remember if it was only 1st stage pokemon or also the middle stage if one existed and what was the case with single stage pokemon, but the last forms were left out completely from the regular cards. Holo stickers existed too within the set and they consisted of what’s considered the better pokemon. I think @nidokingdom, can reveal more precise info about topsun stickers.

The latter topsun stickers consisted of sets of whole stages and they could be formed as a whole picture. Few different sets exist with different variants in them. I only have this muk in my hands atm but nidokingdom very kindly has sent me the grimer i’ve been in search of!

Pokemon staks:

Magnets made by panini, few different sets exist with some language variants. Also holo magnets exist. Will add a link with some info but not sure how outdated some of the info is.

pkmn.net/?action=content&page=viewpage&id=7402&parentsection=74

Dimensions: side: 40mm; thickness around 0,5mm; plastic feel with a back of regular black magnet

Pokemon Sandylion:

Sandylion released few different pokemon sticker sets but the most collectable ones as singles probably are the bigger ones that could either be perforated from sticker sheets or opened from boosters. If i’ve understood correctly the only difference between them is the perforated edges from sheets vs clean edges from boosters. I don’t have boosters (pics can easily be found online tho) or clean edge variants but added the perforated ones and the sheets they can be obtained from. Also added different sandylion sticker sheets after them.

Dimensions: width 50mm; height 83mm; thickness the same as stickers usually are

Pokemon Ddakji:

Ddakji is a korean game and they have some pokemon related stuff too, i don’t know much about how or when they were released but i know that basically all pokemon (at least from gen 1-7) are included in ddakji tiles and many of them have 2 different tiles, including for example all alolan pokemon. I’ll also add a link of gameplay of ddakji so you’ll understand why my examples too have some damaged edges and corners, not a good game if one wants to collect the tiles too

Dimensions: side: 45mm; thickness 1mm and the card material feels like some thick cardboard but the surface is very slippery so not sure what the material really is. I also know some of the tiles are a lot smaller, i have a smaller kanto muk in my middleman service but i can’t get my hands on it anytime soon.

Pokemon Karuta:

This set i know basically nothing. I only know that karuta is a traditional japanese card game so it’s no wonder they united 2 japanese big products and printed some pokemon karuta cards.

Dimensions: width 61cm; height 79mm; thickness is a bit less than 1mm and the card seems to be made of thick cardboard.

Thanks for the Tag @joponnes !
I’ll have to add everything I know about each sticker set very soon ! There’s so much to say + all the Nido stuff I’ve found throughout the years.

Hello !
Here’s some information from the first 5 topsun sticker sets ! Feel free to correct me if needed, there’s probably some errors especially with the distribution years.

One of the major things to know about Topsun products is that they change the name of the brand early-on, they are now known as "top-seika. Any product written with “トップサン” (toppusan) is “first edition” (or first print as you wish). After fall of 1998 they started using “トップ” (toppu). So most of the products released during 1997-1998 usually have two versions/editions.

I’m 99% sure all Topsun products came with pieces of gum and back in the day most of them came in cardboard packs (no plastic apart from the individual packaging of the gum inside the packs).

Topsun seal gum (トップサンシールガム ) (A bit of linguistics : “seal” (シール) is japanese for “sticker”, but you can also find some using "ステッカー " “sutekka”)
The first set from 1996 :

There’s 88 regular white background stickers (with Ken Sugimori’s original awesome artworks) of all base and first stage pokemon from the first generation (with a few exceptions) + 16 holos stickers that are basically mini versions of the Topsun holos cards.

Second Set 1997 “toppusan”/“トップサン” (first print) :

This first print contains 88 stickers and no holos at all.

Third Set 1998 “toppu” / “トップ” (second print) 1998 :

The second print contains the same 88 stickers + 20 VERY COOL holos !

Fourth set 1998

This set is pretty different from the last two, the blue border looks so nice and there’s some stickers of the pokemon that were missing in the first two sets and some cool new backgrounds ! It contains 88 non holo stickers (including a togepi one) and no holos. This set can get pretty hard to complete but they appear from time to time.

Fifth set 1999-2000 ? (My favorite out of the five)

This set must be one of the hardest sticker sets to complete and there’s hardly any information about it online. From my experience there’s a total of 155 stickers in the set (All johto pokemon except for Celebi + All Unown letters + all kanto pokemon that have an evolution or pre-evolution in johto (ex : elekid/electabuzz).

During collecting this set I started noticing differences between the stickers of the same pokemon. In fact this set had at least 2 different print runs and maybe 3 ! I’ve found loads of variants of at least +40 stickers from the set and for this wigglytuff i’ve found 3 different versions. (It’s a fun game of “find the differences”). As you can easily see, one of the wigglytuff artwork is totally different, the other two are the same, HOWEVER, if you look at the trees/flowers in the back you can clearly see that they are different.

I’m still looking all over the place for new variants, I feel like an archeologist discovering new ruins, it’s super fun !

That’s all for the first five Topsun Sticker sets ! If you have any questions feel free to DM me or reply here :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for reading ! I’ll defintely add some more information about some other stuff soon !

Well that was thorough, knew you will know a ton of these

I hope this helps.
We know this is incorrect for two reasons.1) Topsun entered into a License agreement for Pokemon with Shogakukan in 1997 (as found by shizzlemetimbers). Meaning all of their products were produced from 1997 onward.2) The copyright is the revised form from 1997.
For example, the first Topsun cards are from 1997 (seemingly first quarter) and they contain the original copyright, which was revised at around the time of the release of these cards. We know this by analysing other surrounding products.

@nidokingdom Thanks for the info. I added them to the main post.

Hadn’t even noticed the trees until you pointed it out. Pretty cool how the third one is a combination of the previous two: Wigglytuff of the top-left one with background of the top-right one. The two Wigglytuff with the same artwork do have different text block at the front. The top ones have a rectangular logo, and the bottom on an arrow.

Thought that since i got that topsun grimer i’d show here too how nice looking the matching topsun stickers are when the mini sets are completed, like mini puzzles

Hello! Does anyone have links to information on the sets below? Pichu has a great write-up here about the red-bordered set, but I’ve found green and blue borders as well, with different ‘opponent’ art.

They should be Top or Top Seika gum cards, I have them written in my inventory as battlecards but that’s probably temporary from years ago. I’d like to try and get them entered into the PSA registry but I need more complete info.

Blue border:

Green border:

Green border:

Backside of that:

And red borders from PichuFan’s resource:

Does @taran_wanderer know anything about them? I know you have quite a bit of those cards

Edit: for some reason i don’t seem to get the tag to work :E

You’ll need to use ‘@’ with the actual username instead of the display name. If someone changed their name later on, their display name will differ from their actual username. If you go to his profile you see “taran_wanderer (thedude1990)”, so
@thedude1990will work to tag him.

I think they’re simply different sets. The brown bordered cards are from the Gold, Silver, Crystal era (gen 2); pink bordered cards are from the Advanced Generation era (gen 3); green bordered cards are late Advanced Generation / early Diamond & Pearl era (gens 3 & 4); blue bordered cards are Diamond & Pearl (gen 4); and no border cards come in three variations for the DP (gen 4), BW (gen 5), and XY (gen 6) eras. Source.

PS: The first two posts are pretty outdated. I’ve recently bought a lot of non-TCG cards, stickers, figures, and more, so plan on updating this thread once everything has arrived.

You live and learn, thanks! I haven’t put a lot of effort how to post links and tags etc here so i do have to study those at some point

@joponnes,@quuador, I got this :grin:

The blue border are from the Diamond and Pearl Top Seika set. The green border is also Top Seika, I tell myself it’s the Emerald set, but am not sure of it’s official name lol. I actually completed the green border set recently and have the last two waiting to be shipped out to me from Japan.

I’ll post some pictures of the sets after I’m done with work. For the DP set, I only know that there are 50. I am still missing 17 so I’ll post what I have.

My comment above mentioned the same thing, including a source with pictures of most of the cards.

Although feel free to post pictures of your own collection regardless. The artwork on these VS cards are pretty cool.

Quuador

Wow, that’s an amazing source. I’ve been looking for something like this to figure out what else I need for the DP no border set! I’ll add some pictures of the holo and 3D variant cards for the green border since I didn’t see it there.
