Should have sold for 6mil let’s be real
Reminds me of the test print cards. Heritage & PSA get to see the proof but not the people buying. I thought it wouldn’t sell for more than $200k because of this. The Dawn drawing on Goldin was better imo because it came with provenance.
It took close to 30 years indeed but they are obscure for the average collector even investor.
There are still several japanese exclusive tournament promos that are really scarce yet cheap, thing is the hobby is enormous and most people just stick with surface level.
If anything it shows that the market seems to be maturing?
It would appear so or just throwing money at anything they think could be undervalued? Hell, ex reverses were $20-100 forever and now suddenly $1000+ no matter how ugly? Lol
A rising tide lifts all boats. Nearly everything in Pokemon is booming right now. I don’t think I would attribute the rise in VS or Vending to the hobby maturing or set-specific appreciation by collectors.
There is no doubt that these sets are unique and underappreciated, but I think we are attaching our own biases and desires to global market increases that have indirectly benefited them.
You are right but in previous booms most of these cards seemed unaffected or barely affected, yeah all boats are rising but both things can be true simultaneously at least for these cards.
Previous booms were less systemic than this. COVID boom was heavily focused on English. Waifu boom was heavily focused on exclusive Japanese promos that featured female characters.
It’s hard to find something of value that isn’t booming in 2025/2026, as it’s affected nearly every set and every chase card.
Non holo No Rarity and Shadowless on the English side look to me like there is some opportunity. It’s like a scavenger hunt to find something not booming that doesn’t make sense.
Not really sure how Heritage can advertise these as “Unopened” when they came without any factory seal. I can understand sealed games at least, but ones that don’t even avoid tampering? ![]()
VGA examines the hinge for whitening (i.e. if you can see white cracks it’s been opened). I think generally they’re pretty good with it nowadays, especially when the box colour is relatively dark.
Ahhh I see then - appreciate you, homie ![]()
Nah, Mew I corrected version then maybe this guy. The market is wrong ![]()
The corrected one always went for more, only a matter of time
Such a conflicting situation, while I am happy that all my cards are getting more valuable by the day, it truly does suck that I am priced out at the same time. I have been looking for this mew for ages, pretty sure it finalises at 5 figures which is crazy work for an non holo. I can afford it but I would feel like a sucker buying right now, just can’t do it. That was mew goldstar money not too long ago. Wild times
they normally give the provenance and include some other stuff that prove the provenance (which would be like multiples times harder to fake)
this is literally the only one that doesnt include anything extra or mentions anything about provenance ![]()
unless those are at auction it would be hard to find any of those that the prices arent completely jacked up already
(at least for 10s)
The card being glossy and the way this was packaged, being prone to damage is a great combo to make this conditionally rare. A binder pleb like me was happy and lucky enough to find a decent copy but I cannot imagine the frustration of folks who want to collect this in a PSA 10.
Cheers!
Worlds cards are leading the undervalued category, these may be going slightly down (besides 2022 which I bought in this auction).
