omg, wowowowow @ayoveer

What would be the possibility of this being real? This would be the first time that this card is actually pictured right?

The very day after he makes the remark too haha

But this is incredible! What a day! Someone has to win it, take the historical chance. It looks very real. That top right corner makes me think it is. That, and the textures seem right.

I just assumed that all of the copies were lost to time / destroyed somehow? Shocking that it showed up and looks so clean, assuming its real. This is so cool and crazy <3_<3

Vending is a sleeping giant

Idk man, I’ve kinda given up on the idea of “investing” in Vending. It’s my favorite set, but there’s simply not much demand for graded Vending cards - unless you have a) a PSA 10 which isn’t that easy to get, or b) one of the very popular cards which are few and far between. Especially with the current prices for grading, there’s hardly money to be made imo.
I feel like Vending is THE binder set archetype. Nobody is going for graded Vending sets atm, only binders. I think a serious run on graded cards is pretty unlikely to happen.

Of course that might change in the future, who knows.

This should be in the unpopular opinion thread :joy:

I’ll second this. Unless you’re willing to fire sale or auction (neither are recommended), PSA 10 Vending cards move slow if you want FMV and it seems to be more species collectors buying them rather than people trying to complete an entire 10 set. If you can get clean sheets and successfully peel without chipping and get good centering, it can still be profitable to peel, grade, and sell but it’s starting to fringe on borderline breakeven due to the price of unpeeled sheets.

Getting there.
Wish we were not lazy and graded our whole collection last year. Never thought that PSA would cost so much as $100 currently.
Would and should have graded few thousand vintage at $9 each. Easy to say now i guess.

Investment potential of cards is directly correlated to the number of copies one has in their collection

We had these since bought new in the 1990’s. Wish we graded everything last year when PSA was $9. Never thought the price of grading would be so expensive currently. Most grades are 9 and 10’s on the vending we submitted.

I read on Twitter last week that one had been sold to a store in Japan. I hope it is legitimate, it would be incredible, and mark the first time since release a full Snap set is possible to complete. 23 years! I can’t properly judge authenticity because the photos are blurry. There have been high-end non-holo Japanese cards faked with a real back but sticker front on an actual old back card. It is promising that the card is off-centered similar to most of the Snaps, and has wear and tear.

The biggest concern right now is there is zero buyers protection Yahoo Japan. You could be sent a literal rock for a listing you purchased and Yahoo will not step in to help and the funds are sent to the seller immediately with no way of getting them back. I’ve heard of Japanese police involvement with Yahoo Japan scams have been fail: in attempts of getting money back.

Nightmare scenario here being a well made fake was sold to Bookoff, someone wins the auction, it’s discovered to be fake once in hand, and you’re literally out the money you spent on it with zero hope of a refund.

A better photo. The Bookoff location was initially listing for ¥3.3M which has already been exceeded in auction.

I’m probably going have a hard time sleeping for the next 7 days or so, the one that is out of reach, for now. Yahoo Japan is just too risky for me to put that kind of money on the table and not have any protection, but if anyone here wins it and it’s a real deal hit me up, I’m ready to tango, salsa or what ever dance must be performed.
