Some of the 9’s have gone down a bit, the shining Gyrados was about 2.5k end of October now its around 1.5-1.8k with the cheapest option I saw yesterday at 1.3k. I think a couple other 9’s have also went down a bit. I know 10’s not so much as those have leveled off or keep going up.
I haven’t looked at all, but if you’re telling me you’re seeing consistent sales of non holo 9 selling for $850 that is ridiculously overvalued. Sounds like the 9 holo took a dip like many other Charizards lately and no one got the memo for the non-holos to drop accordingly. And even at the height a month ago, non holos shouldn’t have been going for that price. I mean, c’mon.
Non-holo seems over-valued. I’d check my binder set and sell one for $500 right now and guarantee a 9 or your money back if you’re willing to wait a year lmao. Probably fewer have been graded though so people may see illusion of scarcity?
If you had said this to me a week ago, I would’ve told you that you were full of it. But I’ve experienced a HUGE influx of sales over the past couple of days. I’m getting offers on cards every 10-15 minutes. The market is weird right now. I thought the entire market was in a full-on retrace, but now I’m not so sure…
That coupled with the fact that Troll and Toad EX Series buylist prices are at an all-time high (since February, when I started recording them). I saw a bit of rockiness over the past 1.5 months, but over the past week every EX Series set has reached new BL records. Not saying this necessarily means a lot, but it does indicate to me that the market is not in a universal recession right now. That said there HAS been some softness in the prices on specific cards. But overall things are really fucking expensive right now. Still waiting for GS Rayquaza to go back down to <$2k lol.
@pikachuisbestpokemon
Yes, thank you for mentioning the Vaccine, it makes me think that hyped prices will retrace more. Logan Paul leaves + demand shrinks because people are going out again + PSA submissions of more common cards trickling in the markek.
@politoed666
Absolutely, vintage cards are now a more common Xmas gift to self, particularly the mid and lower end cards that reach the masses.
I was hoping for the reverse of that statement, but hey, I got in within a few bucks of the current holo rate, so I’ll take it. Next boom I’m set up nicely. If it drops to 800$, I may have to buy another just to get my CDA down.
I didn’t mention it in my post earlier, but hopefully you assumed first edition in your statement.
It just felt that with the low pop 10s from Neo Discovery the 9s should see some movement eventually. 15k for yanma while the PSA 9 is like 500$ seems kind of wack to me. But then again, it could be a different market for 9s and 10s.
People took what Logan Paul said out of context. If you watch Poke Jews videos he explains the situation. Logan Paul said, “I’m done buying Pokemon cards.” Apparently he is only into Base Set. He already has all the Base Set cards as far as I’m aware. He also isn’t a Poketuber so that’s why there hasn’t been more videos.
Makes sense. As much as everyone would have liked it for extra exposure to the hobby, it was never likely he would go the Poketuber route. Especially if he was only really interested in base set, anyway.
This is off topic, but I actually find it quite bizarre that he hasn’t posted a single video since he bought the 1st edition Charizard 6 weeks ago. With 22 million subscribers that’s a missed opportunity on ad revenue. I mean, a couple more videos with ads and sponsorships could probably pay for that Charizard!
Didn’t he also say that he said that because he was getting non-stop messages about buying peoples cards? I’m sure on a recent podcast Logan briefly mentioned that he bet money on his brothers fight because he wants more Pokeboxes
@shinycards Ya I don’t exactly know him myself and I don’t usually talk about people. I only watch a handful of the YouTube channels. But according to the video basically you would be correct. He was getting blown up to buy things off people.
Is it true or not? I’m not sure myself I just watched a video by the Poke Jew and that’s what was said.
Do I care, and does it effect me? Not at all. I just felt the need to point out everyone was basically acting like the guy sold his cards based on one comment he said. Which wasn’t true as far as I know. Whether he stays or goes doesn’t bother me at all. I just like to collect cards!
I think the notion that Logan Paul is “gone” is a little premature. When I briefly clicked on a video he made yesterday (his podcast), I notice that he had a Pokemon card attached to his microphone with a large blowup of Base Set Charizard behind him. We all knew he wasn’t going to suddenly switch to being a full-time Poketuber. But despite him saying that he wasn’t going to collect anything else from now, I’m not convinced that he’s not going to make more Pokemon content in the future. We’ll just have to see.
Logan Paul is far from the only influencer with an interest in Pokemon. In fact, in just a few days, 7 different Twitch streamers / YouTubers with millions of subscribers are each going to be doing a vintage Pokemon box opening.
