I was hoping to get some clarification on this or what to expect. Does anyone have experience getting PSA cards back from USA ever since they introduced the tariffs? Ideally from Europe aswell.
As of now, I have 200 cards in America and one submission is almost finished and ready to be shipped back. However, I asked PSA how they are handling this and they say that they will ship the cards back and I am responsible for paying the necessary tariff fees…
Only way to bypass this situation (according to PSA) is by storing them in their PSA vault and wait for it to blow over. Which might be the way to go because paying 20/25% (or whatever the percentage is) over the value of the cards is alot of money on top having to pay customs fees.
Thats not possible from EU (only UK I believe). Plus that’s not really a viable option to me as American prices are generally lower compared to EU PSA prices.
I really hope that’s the case because with the PSA value tanking, another few thousand on top of already increased grading fees + custom fees is not something I look forward to.
I have graded around a thousand cards at PSA now, so definitely not the first time.
I usually have to pay VAT over the grading fee. That amount stings, but is not that crazy high. I have managed to get it through customs without having to pay it, but FedEx was a nightmare to deal with.
Nowadays I just eat that fee and factor it in with cost per card. Which is okay, but paying tariffs over card value sounds scary…
My most educated guess would be that your VAT fee will be as per usual. But you can research if your specific country has added any tariffs on goods from america recently. Last i heard the eu has paused its counter tariffs so you should have nothing extra.
USA tariffs are a tax paid by the receiving party when you ship something to the USA. Unless your country has also implied some kind of retaliatory tariff, shipping from the USA back to you will be the same as normal.
Yeah, I am aware that implies to importing stuff for the US. But as a counter measurement, most countries also did the same thing. EU was right before the tariff pause so I am not sure if these are still applied or not.
I think I found that, based of the HS code I used, there is no increased tariff on playing cards.
I did some research, but since it was right before the tariff pause from US, it was/is a little confusing if we also have increased tariffs on imported goods from US.
Based on what I could find there shouldn’t be. But it would be nice to get some sort of confirmation if anyone has been through the same.
I am just so unlucky with grading. 4 years ago my cards were stuck because of Covid while grading, I didnt grade for 3 years and now that I have decided to “crank up production” this happens…
