Has anyone outside of the USA recently submitted to PSA/BGS/CGC in the US after the tariff changes?
I would like to send a few cards to BGS/PSA and have zero tolerance for Beckett Germany’s standard of grading.
Before it was easy –> Mark as a temporary export and your submissions under $2k declared value were not subject to any additional customs fees. On return, I would pay a small fee to DHL/FEDEX for doing the re-import but it was not subject to VAT etc as they were returned goods.
Does anyone know if you can still do this, or is it just worth paying the 10% import fee as the submission enters the USA?
I spoke to a few vendors this weekend at a show, and they just pay the fee to avoid delays.
I so wish they open a vault service too. Europe feels so stuck right now, I’m on the three markets and it feels 30 times smaller and slower than US and Asia, it’s lagging big time behind….
Because it is taking long haha. Do we have any idea at all when this would open? At this point, the website of PSA doesn´t say a lot about it, if anything.
As for OP; it´s annoying, but we just have to wait. I don´t think PSA will want to miss the income from Europe, so they will probably do something.
I read somewhere that PSA Germany (EU) is expected to open in September 2026.
Is anything known about what we can realistically expect at launch? I’m a bit concerned that the graders might be less experienced at first, which could lead to inconsistent grading or even handling issues (e.g., damaging cards). Do you think the service quality will be comparable to PSA US from day one?
And is there any experience from comparable openings elsewhere that could give an indication of how the first months typically go?
This is what I am concerned about also - using BGS EU as a case study, there are likely going to be some teething issues.
I’m not a business in cards, so I am over wasting money sending in stuff that is graded not up to the same standard as before (BGS EU is like a totally different grading standard than BGS USA).
I am contemplating sending into CGC as they are now doing on-site grading in the EU.
Did they have to dlecare it any differently or pay the new 10% import fee entering the USA?
A few TCG stores who do group subs I spoke to, say they just pay the tax - but I was certain the temp. export setup was still in place, I just havent heard anyone saying they have done this yet.
You can get your returns delivered to your adress, yes you have to pay VAT/Import fees as usual. But using a VPN to mislead PSA and hoping they will charge you the tariffs is another issue. They also might refuse to do this and your package may disappear into limbo.
You shouldnt be paying vat on the return as they are temporay exports. Only permanent imports are subject to vat.
You can select your fedex/ups/dhl account to pay outbound import fees to the USA if required (however im saying there shouldnt be any as its a temp export). PSA dont decide this.
I’m just asking if anyone has done this successfully post tariffs.
