Target limits the sale of retail sports cards to resellers

Thoughts? Found in a baseball card forum

target and walmart have to deal with the lowest hanging of the low hanging fruit. Good on them

I don’t see a problem with it. Strikes me as more symbolic than delayed self-policing though.

One time, I saw someone weighing baseball packs right there in the card aisle at Target.

never seen this type of sign before, but I get it. So many degenerates who do these type of things. I hope there is some sort of thing they are looking for and not just “this person looks like a reseller”. Maybe they target (pun intended) people who grab lots of a single product or are cringe enough to bring in actual scales.

The people that scalp make it less likely for more normal collectors to actually get a decent find which in turn could demotivate them from going to Target at all. Also I’m sure it’s annoying to the employees to have someone hanging out going through things like that.

~Me seeing the sign in store~

takes sunglasses off and turns hat forward

“Ok we’re good now, all of your Donruss and Series 1 please!!”

This would’ve been a lot more useful of a sign when people were camping outside of Targets at like 5/6am during Covid. Lol

I mean it’s cool and all, but how would they enforce it? Would it just be if they catch someone buying like 20 ETBs? At my target, I’ve never actually seen an employee in that section. So I doubt they’ll keep an eye out to see if someone acts like a reseller.

I saw a roughly 60 year old woman and her husband weighing pokemon mystery boxes at walmart just a week ago

Wow that is just sad.

This used to be a pretty rampant issue with Pokemon hangers. Pretty much every pack was a light pack at Walmart and Target

Edit: XY sets and prior

Weighing mystery boxes? That’s next level lol

Yeah I know. I almost said something. Her husband actually said to her “someone is going to say something” and she was like “not with you here”

So that just goes to show they knew what they were doing was wrong. Not sure how anyone couldn’t know that though. It wasn’t just some innocent old person whose kid put them up to it or something.

In 2025 I would love to see (they won’t) TPC and TPCi release 3-4 sets where ALL cards are holo w/o texture. Do some qc, ensure packs have no weight differences at all prior to shelf. Just as a huge middle finger. An eevee can dream
