Those Ace Spec cards look cool as hell.

Thats awesome, I thought for sure ace spec was going to be forever forgotten.

seeing an ace spec energy is exciting and potentially opens the door for other types of ace specs. IIRC, originally they were just items. It would be exciting to see an ace spec supporter, stadium, heck, even an ace spec gold star dragapult that also gets a SAR maybe #copium

Wait a minute, this is kind of insane actually?? A new GLC staple for sure. We’ve been getting a lot of good cards for the format with SCVI releases, so I’m excited.

yeah it’s pretty good possibly. more importantly, it is a replacement for battle vip pass and a pretty big sign that level ball isn’t getting reprinted any time soon.

Nice to see a new Arita card  he has been doing less stuff lately!

SV5M Cyber Judge

SV5M 015/071 Rabsca (illus. mingo) new artist

mingo was the second runner-up of the 2022 Illustration Contest, they finally have a card debut to start the year

SV5M 071/071 Mist Energy

What is GLC?

It’s only a replacement for VIP pass in certain decks, unfortunately. Standard decks that rely on high-hp basics just can’t play it- Entei/Valiant being one that really needs VIP to set up. In GLC, it’s absolutely a replacement for VIP in many decks that play it, and some may even play both, which is exciting.

GLC stands for “Gym Leader Challenge”- it’s an expanded format (Black and White Base through present) where you can use only one copy of any named card, as opposed to the regular four, and Pokémon must be all one type.

https://gymleaderchallenge.com/ has all of the info on it if you’re curious! It’s a really fun format with a lot of variety in what you can play.

good balancing act then… big basics need to slow down a bit so evolution decks can keep up

Most decks are evolution decks actually! “Big” basics usually hover around the 130 hp range, with some being a little lower or a little higher. Support mons are extremely important in the format and are usually stage 1 (or even stage 2!).

Rulebox Pokémon aren’t allowed, which makes the format a lot more interesting imo.

oh you’re talking about glc. i’m only thinking of standard format.
