Submitting a scratched card to PSA, maximum grade?

Hello everyone,

I generally don’t submit any scratched cards to PSA, however I have a card that is mint in basically every respect other than one scratch on the holo. Does anyone have any experience on what kind of grade a card such as this could receive? Thanks!

No one here has experience.

Can you upload some photos at different angles so we may see what you’re referring to?

After that you may get a few responders in here other than the sarcastic type.

Do you know how to upload a photo on here?

Photo would helpa lot, if not any comment is just a guess

Depends on the scratch. A 9 can have light scratching. A gash, now that is another matter.

One scratch? PSA 7, 8, or 9 depending on size/thickness/severity of this one said scratch.

I think you’re down to a 3 with a scratch.

Yikes, I’m glad you’re not a grader.

Yep. I’m just good old, PSA. It’s a coincidence, I swear.

Sure, I can grab some photos. I don’t really have any specific card in general, but I do have cards that have scratches that I was curious about potentially grading. I’d be surprised to see any 9 with scratching personally. I don’t think I’ve come across any.

I have had cards with holo foil scratches (multiple scratches) get 7’s.

There are a plethora of holo Pokémon cards graded PSA 9 with a light scratch or 2.

Holo scratches (outside of factory print lines) = PSA 7 or 8, usually. PSA 9s typically seem to just have factory print lines and not actual post-factory scratches.

Chiming in to say that this is a very funny account.

We would need photos. Cards can have a variety of grades depending on how bad the scratch is.

Here’s an example. This has more than one light scratch for sure, and it does have print lines. The back is pretty close to perfect. imgur.com/a/Wjlo4LS

I’ve had cards with one scratch get 9s plenty of times. As long as the rest of the card is mint.
