Hey all,
I have my booster boxes stored in plastic bins:
Is there anything I need to do to make sure they are stored properly for the long term? Silica Packs or anything of the sort? Thanks

Heh. I haven’t considered using silica packs. Interested to see what others have to say.
My most valuable boxes are stored in a plastic bag, inside a plastic container, inside another bigger plastic container. It’s booster box inception.
Silica packs I bet are a good idea, but preferably kept away from being on the literal boxes. I placed a couple in with my psa stored cards, but not touching them.
Needing silica packs really depends on what kind of climate you live in?
I’m in Ohio, stored in an air conditioned and heated home. I was just making sure that storing these boxes in a plastic bin is fine to do for long term (5 years)
I definitely recommend using silica desiccants packs just to be safe. I use the metal canister silica packs that can be reactivated in the oven. The silica beads change from orange to green when full of moisture, so you know when to reactivate.
If you’re keeping your product in a air condition environment you will be fine without silica packs, but they are cheap and in my opinion you should use them just to be safe. Also if you’re keeping product in an airtight container like a safe for example, you DEFINITELY should use silica packs because there is no place for moisture to escape in a air tight container.
I learned the hard way on this subject… I had purchased a brand new safe years ago, i put my knife collection in this safe without any silica packs. Months later when I opened the safe I noticed rust was starting to develop on a few of my brand new knives. It was my fault for not reading the manual and it states you must use the silica packs that come with the safe because there is no way for moisture to escape, even though my safe was in my house (air conditioned environment).
Hope this helps
