Staff promo cards in Lost Thunder Prerelease Kit?

Hi all,

Wondering how the prerelease staff promo cards been distributed in the Sun&Moon era (specifically Lost thunder)? Were they being included in the prerelease kit (the kit includes 10 build battle box, one booster box and a bunch of energy cards) or they were sent to LGS separately?

I know the staff promos were included in the prerelease kit in the xy era, but just unsure about Sun and Moon

Thanks!

Because the employees of the Pokemon Company UK took all the staff Charizard (evolutions) out of the piles they were supposed to put into the kits (yes they did and NON of the EU organizer got one). Sending them in bag of 4 directly to the organizers was implented.

Months later those same Staff stamped Zards showed up as “prizes”/staff reward on a tournament (not being a prerelease but a normal tournament) and handed out by that same Pokemon Company staff workers.

It was stealing from the organizers and I still stand for that opinion.

From what I’ve seen, during the Sun & Moon era (including Lost Thunder), the staff promo cards weren’t actually placed inside the prerelease kit itself. Instead, they were usually sent separately to the local game store (LGS) to hand out to staff or judges running the event. That’s why you’ll notice some inconsistencies depending on which store handled the distribution, some gave them directly to organisers, while others held them back as rewards for those helping to run multiple events.

It caused some confusion at the time, especially since in the XY era they were included within the kits, making it much clearer. A friend of mine who helped organise Lost Thunder prereleases confirmed that his shop received a sealed bundle of staff promos alongside the main kit contents, not inside it.

If you’re interested in how organised play materials are generally handled and distributed across events, you can click here to see how companies such as The Ann Savva Group manage structured event logistics. It gives some useful perspective on why things are sometimes shipped separately rather than bundled.

I can’t put my finger on why that link drop at the end is so… unique? I don’t know
