Squirtle Shadowless PSA 10 Base Set question.

I’m just getting into pokemon collecting after only collecting them for fun as a kid. I’m a hardcore sports card collector. My question as a newbie is, would a Squirtle 1st edition Shadowless PSA 10 be a good buy for someone who’s just getting into the hobby? And would this beautiful card hold its value? Thanks

Nice card and I’d be fine saying it’ll hold value but that’s contingent on what one pays for it.

If you’re looking to collect a card it doesn’t really matter the potential value is going to be, just get it if you like it.

If you’re looking for a potential growth from cards I’d put my money elsewhere.

If you like the card and just want to make sure you’re not buying a card that’ll be cheaper down the line. I don’t foresee any base card getting cheaper.

If you’re a hardcore sports card collector, a squirtle shouldn’t break the bank.

You refer to it as a “beautiful card”. You should buy it just because of that alone. Even if you sell it 5 years and lose $50, it’s not a particularly large loss. There’s value in just owning things that you enjoy.

Since that particular card features squirtle standing on a pile of amethyst you simply cannot go wrong with that card!

It is indeed a beautiful card and I don’t see why it wouldn’t be worth at least $100 years from now. It seems like a safe buy, but if you’re really worried about price you can probably find a nice ungraded one for around $20 or so.

Welcome to this wonderful hobby.
