Will the next sports cards bubble damper or help the Pokemon Card Market?
Why not neither?
What?
Bubbles are wet, wet things become damp, so logically we can only assume it will dampen the market.
You answered your own question in the title. Pokemon is greater than Sports Cards, therefore neither! Pokemon leads the way!
Sports cards aren’t in a bubble in 2020 just like Pokemon wasn’t in a bubble in 2017. The growth of one hobby promotes all.
It has never been a better for sports cards collectors. NBA has had 3 amazing years and it keeps growing.
Pokemon is a meteor, Sports Card Collecting is the sun. They’re two very different beasts that offer little comparison.
Sports cards are nice
But I lost interest in them due to my child collection of rookie HOF players being worth crap due to all the over printing.
You can spend a lot on a rookie card of the best player, but they are always one wrong step away from their career being over and card plummetting in value. I do not recall the last time MewTwo was on the injury report.
I hear what you are saying investment wise, which is why a lot of people do buy sports cards. It can be a big gamble on cards like Zion Williamson, he could suffer a career of injuries similar to Derrick Rose and have his cards tank. A lot of rookie cards are at peak value their rookie year with people taking a gamble hoping they turn out to be an All Star or have a solid career as a key role player. Most of the players don’t end up being All Stars or good players and the cards eventually become next to nothing. All though there are a lot of people who simply like collecting cards from their favorite team, or players who went to their favorite college team.
With all of that being said I do buy quite a few sports cards, mainly for my personal collection of players from the teams I like. But I also have been picking out a few rookies that aren’t quite as hyped and I feel have great potential with card prices that are reasonable and hoard up on rookie cards.
Well you are on a Pokemon forum not a Sports one so most people think Pokemon>Sports.
I know we’re on a Pokemon forum but sometimes we have to take our Ash Ketchum hats off and put on a green accounting hat and do math unless the Ash hat is 1st edition with the tags still on.
I still don’t know what the sports bubble is or what it has to do with pokemon
