SM3 Card Quality

Card quality on Common/Uncommon is really bad for a Japanese set. Give those of you who are putting the set together a heads up. The Rare and better cards seem to be ok.

I am guessing dull blades. Lots of nicks/scrapping along the top/bottom of cards. I think half of my cards have at least 1 speck of white with some cards.

Here are two of the worse cards. I guess the other cards would be ok for English collectors, but I am sure some Japanese collectors won’t be happy to get English quality cards in their Japanese boxes.

Thanks for sharing, don’t remember seeing anything similar with various XY boxes I’ve opened.

I actually noticed this with CP6 for a small amount of boxes out of the ones I opened.

I guess you pay more attention when you grade every card from the set though lol

I could say something. :new_moon_with_face:

Oh wow :S Kinda disappointing, but if the holos and better are still fine then it’s not a huge problem I guess… I’ll definitely check all the cards out when I receive my boxes to see if there’s something similar going on

oh noes, how the mighty hath fallen.

thanks for the headsup Kanagawacards.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pack fresh Japanese card with that much whitening  Hopefully it’s just for one print run… Heck sometimes English has an amazing print run, then they go back to their crappy ways.

That’s unfortunate  From what I hear Japanese is always very good.

I’m curious though, how many cards are roughly being printed for common sets and for a print run and how many of those print runs are there? I really don’t have a single clue for how long cards are printed for example… Do they print all cards for a set within a week, a month, several months? How much would simply replacing the cutting blades for every new print run cost? Why would they not want to produce mint cards? As I said I’m really clueless about this, would be cool if someone with experience on this area would jump in
