Slowqueen's Slowpokes, Slowbros, and Slowkings (Update: all-language binders)

Wow, just a great collection. I know the amount of non-tcg items for species collectors can be endless so seeing these many variety of items really is a testament to dedication of species collectors. The binders looks really nice. Thanks for an amazing update.

Cheers!

Absolutely great collection! I’m curious if you have some specific goals regarding non tcg, and also how deep you are in the variant game, like for example if you aren’t aware those bandai kids mini cards have a dozen of different backs :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Thank you so much @mrbubbles for the kind words!

@joponnes it’s a great question, and one I’m still evaluating. Currently, I’m not trying to collect every single non-TCG item out there, just picking up items I like when I see them for a good price. I didn’t know about the Bandai cards you mentioned, but I do know there’s different backs for the Poker cards. Like @mrbubbles said, it feels like there’s a truly endless amount of non-TCG out there! This is especially true for Gen 1 and 2 Pokemon, and I’ve got 3 of them

Currenly, my collection goals are to complete English and Japanese TCG master sets, and collect all-language TCG exclusives, holos, and stamps. For non-TCG, I get things I like when I see them. We’ll see if that evolves as my collection grows

I have a old lenticular Christmas postcard with Slowbro if thats something you would be interested in.

Aw, yes, another species collector with a fair interest in non-TCG (admittedly, your current collection is probably beyond just “fair”)! You have some really cool items! The prism foil Topsun/Top VS card, the window deco, and a great sleeve + Amada/Ensky sticker collection! The keychains with all of the different Slows are also really cute.

I’ll keep an eye out for Slowpoke items in my extras, in case you’re interested :slightly_smiling_face: Look forward to seeing additional updates here too!

Update: I now have both Slowpoke issues of Trainer Magazine!

Huge thanks to @avalanche1313 for selling me this copy of Vol 15. I’ve been hunting this item for a few months, so it’s very exciting to have a copy in my hands. Can’t wait to give it a read!

What’s this magazine about? Who did this magnificent cover art?

The illustrator is Yukiko Baba. The magazine includes a full Pokemon Web set list, tips on how to use the internet to have fun with Pokemon, a guide to upcoming Pokemon events, and an explanation of the promo cards included inside!

Note: This section includes exclusives from all languages other than English and Japanese – all English and Japanese cards are a part of my master sets.

I am very excited to share my Language Exclusive cards, stamps, and holos! This is one of my favorite parts of my collection. I love seeing cards from all over the world, and learning about the various holo patterns and promo partnerships.

Chinese Exclusive Reverse Holos

The Chinese exclusive Reverse Holo patterns are so cool. An awesome friend in China was able to get me every single RH Slowpoke in S-Chinese. I love looking at this as a set!

All-language Exclusive Holos

Thank you to the friends and connections who helped me acquire these, including my Mom who middle-manned the French ones when I had them accidentally shipped to her house!

  • McDonald’s French-exclusive confetti reverse holo
  • McDonald’s french-exclusive confetti holo
  • Portuguese-exclusive Saturn holo
  • Chinese-exclusive all-over Sparkly holo.

Stamped Promos

I absolutely LOVE a stamped promo. I think it’s so cool to see all the different brand partnerships, and Slowpoke has some great ones. Thank you so much to the various folks who’ve helped me source these!

  • KFC Indonesian promo
  • Indomilk Indonesian promo
  • Thao Kae Noi Thai promo
  • Choki Choki Indonesian promo
  • T-Chinese Gym promo
  • Indonesian Gym promo
  • T-Chinese FamilyMart promo
  • MISSING: Thai Gym promo
  • MISSING: Korean coloring book promo

At this point I believe I have every language-exclusive, aside from the two stamped promos I’m missing. If you know of any language-exclusive card (besides JPN/Eng cards) that’s not featured here, please let me know!

I’m excited to share a new addition to my most special cards :star_struck:

This weekend, I went to The Nostalgia Con in Denver, and I got this Slowpoke & Psyduck tag team signed by the Slowpoke & Psyduck voice actors (Michael Haigney & Eric Stuart)! I am a huge fan of the Pokémon anime, so this was a really cool experience for me.

Michael Haigney was so funny, in person he did all the voices of the Pokémon he’s known for (Psyduck, Charmander, Cubone) and we had a great talk about Pokémon and life. He really cared which paint pen colors to use, and wound up deciding on Yellow and White. In addition to the Michael “Psyduck” Haigney signature, he asked if he could add a “Psi-yi-yi” to Psyduck, and if he could make it out to “My Poké Pal Caroline”.

Slowpoke’s Voice Actor Eric Stuart was also great, he made sure to whip out the pink pen for the Slowpoke signature. I got some other cards signed by him for friends, and we talked a bit about the different characters he’d voiced and the other voice actors he’d worked with.

Overall it was a very fun time! There’s so much going on with this card, and it brings me great joy.

Hello all, today I’m sharing my ongoing collection of Slow Errors. I have a variety, so I’ve tried to point out the distinctions between the different kinds of errors. I’ll keep this section updated as I acquire new error cards!

Miscuts

Everyone has a different definition of what constitutes a "miscut", so I'll share mine: either (1) an alignment dot is visible, (2) a piece of the card is cut off, (3) a piece of the next card is visible, or (4) the card has square corners.

Texture Shifts

These errors are particularly cool to me: they occur when the texture layer is misaligned with the artwork, creating a sort of "ghost" effect. The Prismatic Masterball Ghostpoke card is my favorite error card I own, it was sold to me by a lovely Cubone collector over on Reddit.

Additional Ink

Sometimes a card has a little more ink than it's supposed to: either a completely different color smudge, or an additional layer of ink is applied.

Team Rocket cards are known for having these additional Yellow Ink errors. Notice the yellow streaks across the middle of the card!

This Pokemon GO Slowbro had some additional Black Ink applied. It’s a little hard to tell just looking at the card, so I included a ‘normal’ card underneath for comparison.

151 Holo Repeat

These error cards from 151 are pretty common on JP websites, and the jury is out on whether this is technically an ‘error’ or not, but I’ll include it here. Notice the row of Poke Balls in the middle of the card is partially cut off? You can see a seam down the middle, that is where the holo pattern repeats. They’re supposed to be staggered like they are on the rest of the card, but when the sheet repeats in the middle of the card it messes up the pattern.

Pinched Layer

This happens when one of the layers of the cards gets “pinched” during the manufacturing process, creating a raised ridge on the front of the card (but not the back). Note the line going vertically down the right side of the card.

Missing Texture

This card should have been a Poke/Master Ball, which you can tell because of the all-over foiling that goes all the way into the card art. However, it’s missing the Poke/Master Ball texture, so the entire card is smooth.

Missing Ink

This card is missing an ink layer, which gives it a “washed-out” look compared to the non-error version.

The real queen!

As an error “addicted” I really love this section of you collection.

Personally I have a weakness for miscut so that bas set with alinement dot and the big silver border slowking are a personal favorite.

Inalso really like how you present your cards, really clear and clean way of displaying them.

Thank you for the kind words, I too have a soft spot for errors as you can see! I love how each one is unique, even if the cards are the same

I am thrilled to add the Topps Chrome Tekno variant to my collection! This card was a part of Topps Chrome Series 2, which had a relatively lower print run than Series 1. The packs included regular Topps Chrome cards, as well as rare Spectra Tekno and Sparkle variants. I’m still on the lookout for Spectra and Sparkle, but Tekno is by far the one I’ve been most wanting. The photos don’t do it justice, the holo is truly insane.

I’m a sucker for wacky holo patterns :star_struck:

You found a good deal for this one? The prices for Porygon Topps are insane, I hope it’s a better situation for Slowpoke.

As a person who’s main hunt for years was topps chrome sparkle muk seeing a species collector add a tekno or sparkle holo of their favourite is always thrilling, congrats on such an awesome pick up!

This is a absolutely gorgeous! The holo pattern looks soo cool. Sadly the prices for Starmie are so high for a Tekno variant, I pass it for now … and most likely a long time.
Even better you decided to buy yours. Awesome!

@joponnes A Sparkle Muk sounds so fun, yes it’s a huge milestone to pick up the rare Topps variants. I would love to acquire a Sparkle Slowpoke next!
@orannge Thanks for the kind words, I understand the gen 1 species collector Topps dilemma all too well!
