Shipping from Japan

I understand that there are restrictions in place for Japan on what countries they can ship to.
I have heard that many of these restrictions are lifting for some of the countries they’re allowed to ship to. Would anyone have any more information regarding this?
I need something shipped from Japan to Australia, but it doesn’t look like they’re updating or giving time frames

I’m experiencing long delays :pensive:

I believe this is from April, apparently since then things have slightly changed

The document does say August 7, they also refer to it on their site & mention changes in July beforehand.

Updates are posted here: www.post.japanpost.jp/notification/covid-19/index.html

Can you use DHL or FedEx? You’ll have it faster than Auspost does domestic deliveries at the moment.

It depends on how big the item is you purchased. Everything I say is what I heard at the post office here in Japan, but my Japanese is far from perfect, and is definitely not strong at a post office. That being said, from what I gathered, it depends on the size of the package.

Letters or small to Mid sized bubble wrap envelopes : These tend to ship relatively quickly through JP Post. At least as far as the people who’ve bought from me off reddit have informed me. Usually about 1-2 weeks shipping time.

Packages and large boxes : There is currently a size restriction on packages. A month or two ago, they weren’t even shipping packages at all, only letters. Recently they have lifted some restrictions, but the shippable size is pretty small. Maybe like the size of 2 ultra pro binders stacked on top of each other. (I’m terrible with centimeters and stuff, sorry…I’m American). There is also a weight limit, but I didn’t catch how much it was. However, anything bigger than that size will have to go through surface mail. That is what takes months to ship.

This is all that I have gained for information from my local post offices. But again, my Japanese is not that great, so I may have misunderstood or not gotten all of the information in general.
