Shipping expensive card

Shipping a card soon , and I always get nervous when having to write the description of the item as “ Trading Card “ or “ Collectible “

As that may catch some eyes of the UPS drivers.

Anyone have advice that would be better to write in the shipping description instead to avoid thieving eyes ? :eyes:

Cheers

The answer if you’re worried about theft is USPS registered mail. If you have to ship with UPS, something like “childrens toys” or “paper documents” aren’t wrong. If it’s heavy, just write books. Nobody wants to steal books.

It does have to be UPS as I’m shipping from Canada and they are up the street from me so convenient as well.

The printed documents sounds like a good option as well

If you’re not buying additional insurance for the package the world is your oyster.

I would recommend using Canada Post so that it delivers via USPS in the U.S. UPS and FedEX are awful compared to USPS.

If you must use UPS, I would choose “children’s toys.” Regardless of the service, always ship expensive cards with signature confirmation.

Children’s Toys it is then , makes sense

If I may ask though, why is UPS worse than Canada post / USPS ?

I didn’t include fedex as I have never had a good experience with them.

UPS has been good to me shipping out and receiving and very quick. It is more pricey but for an expensive card I always thought UPS would be a better option and more trustworthy than Canada Post or USPS

USPS is much better than FedEX and UPS in the U.S. Part of the reason is because it’s a federal service that is held to a higher standard than private companies. USPS also has a federal investigative unit that monitors mail crimes. And to be hired by USPS, you cannot be a criminal.

UPS and FedEX have lengthy histories of less than stellar service. Take a look around e4, Blowout Cards Forum, and Reddit, and you’ll see a pattern emerge.

This is god to know , here I thought it takes too long and the service isn’t the best especially with a higher value item.

Thank you :folded_hands:t2:

For expensive packages like PSA submissions or sales, I will never use a label with outward information like value or contents. For exports and documents with the contents/value listed you can place them in one of those plastic bags that can be sealed and stuck to the box.

Then the only people who will know the contents are boarder agents. (At least that is how I choose to believe it )

I have shipped hundreds of packages through Canada Post marked as “trading card” with no issues I can think of. The declared value is probably a bigger target anyway

Isn’t the union going through negotiations with Canada Post? They could still strike at any time and your package could just get stuck in a warehouse.
