Does anyone have any detailed info on the Shibuya Pikachu release? I bought quiet a few to grade back in Feburary for $5.25 a piece and now there at $20-30 a piece. I wasn’t really expecting that considering its sitll a fairly new promo and assume that sellers still have a good supply of them but based on the current price I guess I was wrong.

So basically there are 4-5 employees in each pokemon centre across Japan who hand out these cards to patrons who visit the pokecenter. You also get another one for purchasing something. My wife and I ended up grabbng 4-5 each per each pokecenter that we visited. From what I noticed, the supply was pretty large. Also, it’s very strange but most of the people that the employees approached didn’t actually want the cards so the employees were pretty desperate to give away the cards. I am not sure how long the distribution lasted. I went to pokecenters for 2 days straight.

interesting. This was is the kinda info I was wanting. I was expecting there to be a large supply but they are getting pretty scarce on ebay. I only got 43. I wanted to buy more but I didn’t have the extra cash.
For me last time to get the Pokemon centre card I had to make a purchase of over 5000 JPY and I was entitled to 1 promo card per 5000JPY purchase. There was an upper limit per purchase too but I forgot what it was. Nobody was handing out the promo card that time, it was a non-holo Gardevoir, time was around Nov 2019. I suspect other Pokemon centre promo releases are similar to this
I got this card as a freebie but I’ve bought it psa 10 at 50 usd on ebay (because I liked it). Now the price has increased to 200usd+ and I have resell it and I have bought 3 mint ungraded at 20usd each…

Interesting. I suspect that in this case, oversupply may have been a contributing factor to them handing out cards for free. All of the pokecenters that I visited in tokyo did not require a purchase. I cannot comment on other pokecenters outside of tokyo or other releases as I was only in Japan during this release
Good for you! I didn’t realise it was hitting $200+ psa10! It’s a really nice card I bought 3 of these cards in June for $14 (I’m a bit of a sucker for Japanese Pikachu Promos!).
I’m amazed by the increase in price! I’ve sent them to be graded hopefully get a 10 to add to my Pikachu S-P Promos
