I feel your frustration. My last $15 order has been in QA2 for about 3 weeks now and I haven’t gotten any notification of upcharges which I know are coming. If you’ve already been through that process and it’s taking even longer post upcharge, I feel like I’m in for an even longer wait

3 week QA2 and counting for me as well. Almost at the point where this single step is taking longer than all the other combined. Super small order too–12 cards.

Been in QA2 for over a month now. My other order caught up and they’re both just sitting there

So it’s not just me…almost at 3 weeks in qa2 as well. Just got an email on Wednesday that one of the cards got damaged so I’m sure I have a while longer to wait

It’s relieving to see that I’m not the only one in QA2 purgatory. Best of luck to all in escaping soon

May as well chime in with all my orders also in Q2. 7 orders in Q2. Longest one has been three weeks and last one just entered yesterday.

Maybe PSA is taking their time researching prices on cards to upcharge people. Guess we’ll all find out soon.

Very well could be the case. I am imagining that any orders that were subbed during the February special will only be upcharged to $19 because that is $499 max value? (If value is determined to be less than or equal to $499). What do you think?

I thought about asking them this when they upcharged me for 4 cards in my last order that was returned, but ultimately just decided to pay without asking. All my submissions are from the December special and I don’t think $19 grading was available when I submitted them.

If you submitted during the February special, then I would definitely assume to only to be upcharged to $19 if the item is upcharged and not worth more than $500.

I think this is the FAQ that goes over upcharging.

Q: What happens if my Declared Value is understated?

A: If PSA determines, in its sole discretion and at any point in the process, that the submitted Declared Value has been understated relative to the market value of the item, PSA reserves the right to decline your stated Declared Value. If PSA declines the Declared Value of an item, PSA may require you to pay for the accurate Service Level as a condition of PSA completing the authentication and grading process as to the subject item. If you refuse, or are unable, to pay PSA for the accurate Service Level, then PSA will return the item to you unprocessed at your cost, and you will be charged for the Service Level at which you submitted the item. PSA’s determination that you have understated the Declared Value will affect only the Service Level charge, it will not change the Declared Value for purposes of establishing the maximum item value for claim or shipping insurance purposes

I sent 60+ cards to value plus ($499 max DV) and got 7 PSA 10s. 3-4 of the cards were $900-1200 value based on PSA’s website and one was $1500. I only got upcharged for the $1500 card. Maybe if the card crosses two value lines, then they upcharge you?

Overall PSA is moving faster and I’m really happy. I’m only concerned with how quickly the cards are moving through grading. Based on the Forbes article they have 100-120 graders. They are grading 1 million+ Cards a month. If you do the math that can range from 400-600+ cards graded per grader per day. If you break that down over an 8 hour shift it comes out 48-72 seconds per card. Personally I think they are grading more than 1 million per month and the delay is in steps afterwards.

It’s only anecdotle but It definitely feels like they are rushing through the grades lately. The turnaround times and prices are cheap enough where I’ll just regrade once or twice.

Will be a wait and see on how they treat upcharges for the special. Agree that it almost seems random at times what they do and don’t upcharge. Grading cards here and there is fine but I can only imagine grading 400-600 every day as my full time job. It must be mind numbing and I could completely see someone flying through orders and hoping the secondary review catches any mistakes. Will continue to send in a sub every 2 weeks or so going forward. Still have quite a bit I want to clear out at $15.

Now that i think about it. PSA recently announced they would be scanning + uploading every card that passes through them. If this is the case - the QA2 delay makes more sense now.

Wow, didn’t even think of that. Great observation! It would make sense to only scan the card after the second check.

I just got upcharged for 3 more cards in another order. They only upcharged to the $19 bulk rate so I’m pretty happy about that.
