Anyone know who they’re talking about in the video? My first thought was @KingPokemon.
I believe he made psa acknowlegde the differences in shadowless and unlimited.
There are some really old cert shadowless cards so they changed the unlimited to shadowless a really long time ago.
One of my absolute favourite cards too.
Much more vibrant compared to unlimited and way cheaper than 1st edition.
Yes Gary & Ed (Edbirdman) were the main reasons for shadowless being acknowledged.
I thought it was Gary. Who is Ed?
Second best set ever behind 1st ed base
He was one of the OG’s in the early pokemon days! Full squad photo:
Yes, Eddie and I did hundreds of things together including getting cards (especially Japanese trophy’s, recognized for grading but Shadowless was my own. In fact, when Joe Orlando at PSA first agreed to designate them, the name I put on the sub form was “No Shadow” lol.
Itd be really cool to have an article on e4 that is like a detailed history of pokemon tcg as a collectable. I didnt know this about shadowless and im sure theres tons of other little things i still dont know. Kinda crazy to me that many of the people who helped make this hobby what it is today are just like vibing on e4 lol
Thank you so much for the info! So psa actually started grading shadowless around 2002?
Interesting! Does that mean PSA coined the term shadowless? Or did you receive some with the ‘no shadow’ designation?
They were already grading them but only as unlimited were. No designation.
Yes. As much as I hate to admit it, PSA coined the term “shadowless”. But, they based it off of my name…”No Shadow”.
IMO, PSA was right on the name change.
Do you happen to have any undesignated shadowless PSA cards you can show us??
I wish I did but PSA was nice enough to recase all my shadowless holos. There were about 300 holos which normally would have cost 3.00 each. So I saved about 1000.00 on that.
Now I wish I had saved some undesignated. You’ll see one pop up every now and again but odds are, they were once mine;)
