Stellar Crown was the seventh set of the SV era, released in English on September 13th, 2024. This expansion mainly focuses on Tera or Terastallized Pokémon (with Terapagos as the main featured Pokémon). Stellar Crown also debuts Terastallized Pokémon ex with the Stellar type for the first time in the TCG.
Although FA Alt Art cards have been the main attention of the SM/SwS/SV era sets, I feel like a lot them are also killing it with the artworks of the regular cards, and this set is defintely a great example of that. So many banger artworks among them. Here some of my favorites:
Ponyta has gotten a lot of great artworks over the years, and this one is no exception.
For a moment I thought this was the first swimming Slowpoke card, since it usually simply lies around lazily (sometimes in the water tbf), but it seems I was wrong, since EX Unseen Forces also has a swimming Slowpoke.
Although I always liked Yuka Morii’s clay artworks, I still prefer realistic drawn artworks more. Having said that, this Meltan is the perfect Pokémon for Yuka Morii’s clay creations. It suits it so well.
As someone who collected fossils and minerals in the past, I also enjoy this card a lot, especially the background. Really gave me nostalgia of the mineral shops and museums I visited as a kid and teenager.
This set is no different than other recent sets and has a ton of beautiful bulk cards in it but i want to highlight more unusual thing which is the stellar pokemon ex card edges, that was some fresh air with all those colours included! The artworks definitely are a hit or miss but those edges should get another chance in future
I personally can’t stand the gem rainbow gimmick crap. Most modern sets my opinion is the same, good singles where they are, overall sets are forgettable from name to identity overall. There’s some decent exceptions like that rocket one.
So overall for this set 3/10 cause that’s a small amount of real good art. Sowsow is so good he makes me appreciate mons I don’t care for. This one here is fabulous. Slowking in particular love kayama.
It suits it so well.
