Legends Awakened is the sixth set of the Diamond & Pearl era, released in English on August 20th, 2008. It doesn’t really have a general theme, but it does have multiple separated cards with different forms, like the Deoxys; Castform; and a bunch of Unown.
And I usually only post my favorites, even though I also mention
in the main post. I can’t say it’s the worse per se, but this Ledian artwork just looks weird, like it has a very small body and huge head (even though both are supposed to be of roughly equal size):
Always fun to flip through a set I haven’t thought about in a while.
Not a lot of standouts from the set for me.
This Regigigas (which is a Pokémon that i generally dislike - so this is really saying something) never fails to catch my eye when I see it. Mostly the way the background colors show through the foil I think.
As for the worst of the set - I feel this set brought us some of the most boring versions of the Unown and I don’t really care for any here other that perhaps the question mark and exclamation point with their bored expressions.
General thoughts are kinda boring set but still hits the nostalgia enough to make me enjoy looking at it!
there are actually quite a few cards from this set that make an appearance in my dex binder.
there is a respectable amount of art that ranges from solid to great, largely because this is still in the era where artists like Arita were still in their prime.
It’s interesting that within my artist collection, there are some sets which really aren’t represented. Over the years, I’ve had about 10 different artists highlighted, some wane, some remain… This set really doesn’t have much for me but a few standouts are…
At least one creative Arita card and a few other good ones paosted by inert .
Unfortunately I stopped collecting a few sets before Legends Awakened so I don’t have much connection with this set. I’ve owned this card for a few years now though, so I’ve become attached to it during that time.
I have fond memories of playing what I think is the only viable vileplume / bellossom cards in the tcg’s history, plus this uxie that was everyone’s favorite tech card
This isn’t an era I care for too much and this set is definitely not doing it any favors. I do quite like the Kizuki arts and I think the unown punctuation looking totally over it is pretty funny.
