Two simple questions with hopefully simple answers:
Where are the numbers of the Japanese DPBP#-sets referencing to? I.e. Girantina is DPBP#526 in the Cry from the Mysterious set.
(Which will probably be answered automatically as soon as I know the answer to 1 I assume.) Why do some Pokémon lack a number (i.e. Oddish, Gloom, Uxie, etc. in the same set linked above)?
I think this has something to do with the index used in the games, but I’m unable to find Girantina at all in any of the lists on Bulbapedia, so I’m not too sure.
I can answer question 1 but not 2. DPBP refers to the Diamond & Pearl Battle Pokédex number which would indeed make Giratina number 526.
Let me know if you figure out why some of them have no numbers.
Ah, I thought I had looked in that list with Ctrl+F “giran”, but I now realize it’s Giratina instead of Girantina, rofl… No wonder I couldn’t find it. Thanks!
Now let’s see if someone can answer the second question, since I personally don’t see why some of the Pokémon doesn’t have a number even though they are part of the Diamond & Pearl Battle Pokédex.
Just a hypothesis but I think only the initial release of that species of pokemon got the DPBP designation.
Houndour did not get a number since it was released in DP4 Moonlit Pursuit with the DPBP number.Lopunny did not get a number since it was released in DP1etc.
Additionally, Shaymin was the only pokemon to get a DPBP number in Pt1 and it was the first appearance of this pokemon on a card
