This made me realise that I only own one of these and now I’m sad. I felt that none deserve D Tier but I’m biased towards older cards.

A lot of the shining cards just aren’t that interesting to me. Gyarados is incredible and I am a huge fan of Tyranitar, but beyond that the holo pattern washes out the artwork a lot and it’s challenging to fully appreciate. However, Shining Mew is incredible. I never fully appreciated it until I had one in hand.
The gold stars are my favorite ultra-rare set, but I tried to be harsh on them and rank them amongst themselves. Charizard and Rayquaza are so iconic and awesome they’re automatically S rank. I put Umbreon in A, but if we’re talking the Japanese version then I’d bump it up to S.
Crystals are the set I’m probably least attached to, but I still really like them. Ho-Oh is my favorite. Lugia and Celebi have amazing artwork, but the rest are kinda just generally good in my opinion.

CoroCoro Mew is genuinely one of the best cards ever made. Shining Gyarados is iconic. GS Espeon is awesome, plus has that added prestige to it. Crystal Ho-oh is Kusajima at his best.

Crystal Crobat is one you have to see in person, the colors pop like crazy. Also I’m surprised not to see Tyranitar at the top of more list.

The only huge outlier in my ranking here, is Shining kabutops. Severely underrated art, that I will die defending. Also, I’m just not that big a fan of crystal types. I think some are great, but mostly, not. Gold stars? A bit better.
With my chase cards, I want a dynamic illustration staring back at me. Challenging me not to use it in a deck, or NOT to chase the card. I tried to base this solely off how the card makes me feel when I look at it.

It’s the all singing & dancing holo version in English.
Right there with you on this! I’d go as far as to say it’s the only good Neo Destiny Shining artwork (though Mewtwo goes hard, even with the boring pose).
It’s great to see practically every list so far is a good mixture of cards across all the sets, and not just a stream of Ray GS appreciation.
