Pretty strange situation - buyer bought a card from me and I shipped it with USPS registered and insured mail. The package has already reached the post office near him about a week ago, and the buyer requested delivery on Nov 2. Since then, it is still undelivered, and the buyer is not responsive to any messages. This is the weirdest selling situation I have experienced. I hope nothing bad happened to the seller. Anybody else experienced anything like this? If so, how did you handle it? Buyer has 100% positive reviews and has been a member since 2011 … so not a newbie.
I would call the local post office, to see if they have gotten had any contact from the buyer
Maybe buyer is gonna try and open not received claim, wait until he wins, and then try to claim the card.
Thanks. I did talk to the post office and they are holding it at the local post office for the seller to sign and take delivery, by showing his drivers license. I will call eBay to discuss as well. I really hope something bad did not happen to the buyer.
The most likely explanation is that he changed his mind and doesn’t want it anymore. Maybe he thinks the price went down since he bought it.
If that’s the case, please be so kind as to disclose buyer user ID for our banlists
A delivery attempt counts as delivery as far as eBay’s Seller Protection is concerned. You’ll be covered in the case he tries to pull a fast one about never receiving the item. In the case that he does open an item not received case, you’ll want to contact eBay customer support so that they can manually review the tracking information.
Seems sketchy in my own opinion. Please be careful everyone! People are seeing $$$ signs and not giving a F who they rip off to make some money. 2020 has been the end of morals…
What karma said, buyer probably doesn’t want it anymore and thinks they can just refuse it and get their money back. Absolute waste of time of a buyer if that’s the case
I’m a little confused, you’ve referred to this person as both buyer and seller a few times. Am I missing something?
Good catch … meant to say “nothing bad happened to the buyer” … with Covid and what not, things are pretty up in the air these days.
I will post the name of the buyer within the next week if this silly drama continues.
Thank you all for your thoughts and comments.
Doesn’t the post office return the package to you after x amount of days? Here in Canada I believe it’s 14 days.
I hope they pick it up, but if anything you’ll just get your cards back.

Actually yes. The USPS will not hold it for very long. Not sure what the time is off the top of my head, but I know for certain it isn’t more than 30 days. It might be as few as 10 days.
Closing the loop - I did call eBay today, and they mentioned that this is covered under eBay’s seller protection plan, since it is up to the buyer to schedule the delivery from his local post office after the postal service made the first delivery attempt, and I have sent him three subsequent messages over a week to remind him. Even if the card gets returned to me after a while, there will be no refund issued from eBay. I just hope the buyer is OK. If the card does get back to me, I will gladly mail it back since it has been paid for in full already. Hope this experience helps someone else who may find himself/herself in a similar situation in the future.
I understand what you are saying, and also hope that the person involved is ok. nobody ever thinks about it, but there are def people who buy something in their last days and don’t make it to seeing it
