Sealed 1st Edition Shadowless Machamp

Hello! I’m new to the forum (though I’ve been lurking for longer than I’d like to admit haha). Finally worked up the courage to make my first post. I recently acquired this Machamp and I’m wondering if you guys think it’d be better for me to open it up and get it graded or keep it sealed? Sorry if the pictures aren’t great, tried to include the only blemish I can see.

I would definitely grade it. Grading it ensures its condition.

There are some who say that the plastic seal deteriorates and can damage the card. I haven’t personally observed this, but it’s something to take under consideration.

Get that T H I C C Machamp into a PSA case!

After opening so many of these, it can be difficult to notice certain types of damage on the card so be careful, mainly print lines or edges. Most likely a 9 from what I see in the pictures and my experience. Grade it anyways, 9 or 10 is still awesome.

Well guys I opened it and unfortunately it looks like luck wasn’t on my side tonight. Looks like there’s a decent sized dent in the card and some print lines on the holo. You win some, you lose some, am I right? Haha

It’s still quite a valuable card, and mandatory for anyone who wants to complete the initial WOTC base set in 1st edition.

Thanks so much, I’m excited to be here! I wish I could complete the base set in 1st edition but the prices hurt just to look at haha. Managed to get my hands on a 1st edition Blastoise (my absolute favodite pokemon) in the same lot, plan on getting it graded (hoping for a 6-7) then taking it to the grave with me haha.
