Saving Money: Honey

So recently, I’m seeing more and more Youtube content creators/ advertisements being sponsored by Honey;
the browser add-on that automatically tests out discount coupons to save you money.
Saving cash is a key part of a collectors life as every cent saved, can be spent on another investment/ collection.

So far I’ve had no luck as none of the coupons have worked when using Honey.
I’ve used it on Ebay, Amazon, Walmart, Target, etc…

I would like to hear your stories of success or un-success of using Honey.

Not a single honey coupon has done anything for me.

Glad I’m on the same boat

Honey has never given me a coupon that works on any ecommerce sites such as ebay or amazon like you mentioned. I think eBay does a pretty good job of letting people know when they are running a promotion. I do remember it got me like 50% of Pizza Hut one time though, so its not completely useless…

There are some other similar discount extensions (not sure what to call them) that give some cashback on ebay/other things (usually not amazon though) if that’s what you’re looking for. Wikibuy is usually 0.5% cashback on ebay and Rakuten has been 1% for a little while. Rakuten also has a pretty good referral bonus right now if you know a friend who already uses it.

I end any video on youtube if they cut into a sponsor so I never get to hear of these things

Had honey installed for a couple months, have saved no money. Likely going to uninstall.

I’ve never saved anything using it. My wife has pretty good luck with it though, using it on clothes or toys for the kids. So if you’re looking for stuff like that it might be worth it…doesn’t seem to do much for pokemon cards, though.

I have never had a coupon for Ebay or Amazon, but I always get savings when I order food online. I’m not sure how exactly Honey scans for coupons, and I am sure that Amazon/Ebay wouldn’t have crazy deals hidden.

  • It is not like it costs anything to have installed. Worst thing that could happen is you save money lol

I don’t believe it works in big stores. It saved me $500 on an RV rental and took 20%-30% off of clothing a few times. It has not helped me once with collectible cards. Big companies will not offer hidden discounts as they do not need them to entice more sales.

I agree with Jawsh. I think the only time its ever worked for me was with a lesser known store, for car parts haha.

Except for data privacy concerns, of course. Up to you to decide if the occasional $5 off on a random purchase is worth them tracking your browsing history on retail sites

True, but at this point I’m sure Amazon or the others have a pretty solid profile on my browsing history and shopping behavior.

Why would I ever use Honey? Will promote if they pay me tho

Best thing about Honey are the MrBeast ads for it.

I have had more success using Honey on eBay over Rakuten. Maybe the few times I tried using Rakuten my purchases were not qualifying for points back but most of my Pokemon purchases qualify for some Honey Gold back. I have been using Honey for probably 18 months or so and have built up $300 worth of gift cards. Add that to cash back on my credit card and it adds up when you are spending thousands monthly.

If anyone knows of another affiliate cash back site that pays better let me know. Also if you don’t care about the cash back there are many YouTubers who have affiliate links you could use to help them out, they get a lot more kickback than honey pays.

Edit: as far as coupons go I’ve never had success with Honey on eBay. It has worked ordering online from restaurants a few times.

Bought an eBay 40 dollar gift card with my honey balance. Got lucky on a few 10 percent back on target and michaels though.

On topic though: I had never heard of Honey before I saw this thread… But with similar websites/plugins I’ve used in the past, these coupon codes don’t work 99 out of 100 times…

I downloaded honey 2 years ago and it’s actually saved me a total of like $80. Pretty happy with it.

However, in the past year that has been only like $5. Maybe sites are adapting. I do have a lot of “honey gold” though, hoping that can be used somewhere.
